I haven't seen him as a professional, perhaps IB can assess him better than me.

But from what I've seen in the amateurs, I would have a hard time seeing him get past Golovkin.

That would be a one-off. I think he's comfortable at 160, no reason he wouldn't return to roost. There will be a void when Maravilla retires for someone to basically rule the division in a throttle-hold.

Golovkin isn't really a big middleweight.

I don't think we'll see Golovkin move up permanently, 160lbs fits him good.

I was really happy Murata had turned pro based on what I had seen in the amateurs, and think he can certainly go on to be one of the top middleweights.

Not sure if he is better than Golovkin, though when I saw GGG's fight with Kassim Ouma a few years back I wouldn't have bet on him going on to be considered the best 160 lber in the sport.

Any time a world-class talent is still showing marked improvement from fight to fight, it's tough to peg down exactly what level they'll peak at.

The odds say you're smarter to bet against even top talents reaching Monzon-Hagler levels, but that didn't stop Hopkins from carving out an exceptional HOF career at 160. While it's certainly too soon to say Murata will reach that level, there's no denying he's a world-level talent and just might develop into a middleweight we'll still talk about 20 years after he retires.

One thing's for sure, his story is already such a freak occurrence, I'm not gonna rule it out now. I'm excited to see how far he goes. :happy

he won't reach Monzon or Hagler level... He's 28, his career just started out, plus the division ain't great nowadays.. Safe to say he will never reach that level

Hence why I said "The odds say you're smarter to bet against even top talents reaching Monzon-Hagler levels".

I should've been more clear, but the level I referred to after was a solid HOF level. Important to note that Hopkins didn't win his first title until he was 30 and faced the same criticism of Middleweight not being what it used to be.

I'll stress again- might. not saying the dude will, but it's too soon to write the book on him just yet. Sit back and enjoy the ride. :good

I know but I'm not sure what makes you think he even might reach those levels, I say there's no chance of that happening.

I think you may be underestimating the greatness of these two fighters if you think Ryoto Murata has any chance of reaching their status.
