    David Tua:

    John Ruiz
    David Izon
    Oleg Maskaev (very green)
    Hasim Rahman
    Fres Oquendo
    Michael Moorer (shot)

    Sam Peter:

    James Toney
    James Toney
    Jameel McCline

Peter is still very young. I think he'll beat Maskaev.

Easily. What did Tua ever accomplish apart from inactivity and getting fatter. At least Peter has won an interim belt. Tua couldnt even accomplish that.

I think Tua is one of the most relevant contenders of the late 90s and early 00s (mainly Lennox' era).

Peter already is more accomplished than Tua ... he has the interim WBC HW title.

Tua never had a title of any kind

Tua has been a massive disappointment - the poster boy for underachievers
He has more talent than Peter but if Peter beats Maskaev as i expect him to , then he will have already accomplished more than Tua

Tua was a real powerhouse back in the late 90s, early 2000s. He was regarded by most, as the most powerful one-punch artist, in the sport at the time. From what I read, he's not the most compliant in training camp, and at one time questioned his love for the sport.

I feel if you would take the Tua from 10 years ago, and put him in the division now, he would at least have a title, and quite possibly unify. There's noone in this weak Heavyweight division that couldve knocked him out, and most, if not all would of been dropped by a solid punch from the "Terminator".

He was. BUT THATS ALL HE WAS. He should have been a world champ. One of those belts had his name written on it. But since losing a close and VERY exciting bout to Ike David accomplished very very little. He worked his way into title contention but every time he stepped up he brought nothing more than extra weight and a chin. Byrd hen pecked him to a wide UD and LL did the same. He was slow unimaginative and cumbersome.

Maskeav is NOT a better version than the fighter that Tua beat. They fought at least over a decade ago. Maskeav may have won a world title but lets be honest his merely a belt holder. The guys nothing more than an average journeyman.Every time his fought a half decent name his been KO`ed.Dont try and sell it for anything more than what it is.

yeah he can. Tua beat some good contenders, but Peter has a real shot of winning an actual world title, Tua never did that.

I think your the joke my friend, the Heavyweight division is the biggest joke going. The fact that Maskaev was layed out by every one under the sea in the 90's, but yet in the mid 2000's finds success in his late 30's. In your post you proved my point, when you said Maskaev was winning until he was knocked out by Tua, proving all it takes is one punch from a powerhouse like Tua to put a quality guy like Maskaev to sleep.

When you said Bryd outboxed him, your right, Bryd was in his prime in 01-02 when he beat him, there's no shame in losing to the champ, the same goes with Lennox, who is top 10 ATG Heavyweight in anyones book. I'm sure if you start a pull and ask what Heavyweight title holders can a prime Tua beat, I would lay money down that the poll will end with Tua beating Maskaev, Chagaev, and even Peter, if you want to count him, and he would lose to Wlad by maybe 65-35, which is pretty respectable I think.

see here's my take on tua. great physical gifts but not very smart and never developed the skills needed to compete on an elite level.

tua looks great if u stand in front of him but give him some movement and he's completely lost. sultan and chagaev would outpoint him. wlad would shut him out like lennox. guys like peter, povetkin, valuev who are willing to stand and trade would be in much more danger.

Although i agree with what you say the maths dont add up. Byrd is shot and was shot by the timehe fought Povetkin. The Tua that fought Ike could beat possibly ANY of the current heavies. He was insanely busy threw plenty of punches and weighed around 220. Since Ike all Tua did was fall in love with his power and get fatter.Tua since Ike would rightfully be beaten by ANY heavy who is wily enough to stay out of range employs a decent jab and outboxes him to a wide UD. Tua simply isnt busy enough anymore. His love affair with boxing was no diffrent than two lovers passing in the night.

im gonna have to disagree here. in that fight tua and crazy ike stood right in front of one another. both were willing to trade. they each could set and load up shots. give them movement and watch their effectiveness plummet.

it was a great fight no doubt but both guys get seroiusly overrated off that fight especially ike.

Chageav and Iggy aint half the boxers Lewis or Bryd was, I see Chagaev being tempted into a slugfest where he would get layed out IMO, as far as Iggy is concerned, I dont know, his chin is a little shaky, and if he fights like he did against Wlad this past saturday, I wouldnt be surprised to see him looking up into the lights. I think Peter would lose, badly, probably within the first 6 rounds. Valuev, I have no clue what would happen, but I would give the edge to Valuev, because he might be the only one in the division that can take his punches while he was in his prime, besides the jab would keep Tua at bay long enough to win the fight, Valuevs workrate is amazing for his size as well.
