Not a chance in the world. DLH was hugely popular coming out of the olympic. Plus boxing was different then.

My first time stepping into the ring I was also confused about how to get in, but I eventually figured it out...in about half a second.

This guy is either really nervous or just plain stupid.

Lol, BP's little ugly brother. You don't think the guy's good looking? Lampley said during the Baldomir fight that women come to his fights.

    No gold medal

No title after this many fights

Oscar won his first title real fast

Alvarez will be a great I think but he has a way to go b4 he is Oscar level

Maybe Cotto level win a belt at two or three weights then get beat and fall out of the top tier

He has GBP & the right timing to do great things.
(He has the Oscar machine behind him)

Will he reach DLH's achievements? (Who know's/Prob not... Who will)
But I do guarantee he becomes a PPV smash.

Im not shitting on Cotto but I;m not about to call a prospect Oscar De La Hoya 2

Maybe my simplifying of Cotto's career didnt give him enough credit but Alvarez I think will do that as a maximum

    Oscar did 6 weights

if Alvarez goes up six he's a heavyweight, now I find that hard to believe alvarez would even win a title at 168

You obviously have not a deep understanding of boxing, its called getting "seasoned" hes got all these fights to get in there with a lot of different styles and skill level boxers so that he can learn how to adjust to any type of fighter.
He will be a great fighter in the near future, and this smart move by his management will play a part in it
Something thats become something of a lost art these days...:nono

:bart Shanna was a dish back in the day.

I wouldn't be overly surprised if he can become bigger than de la Hoya PPV wise if boxing goes through a new golden age. He doesn't have the skills and athletic quality to be as good as de la Hoya I feel. I hope the kid proves me wrong though.

Oscar had a much better crop of fighter to fight in my opinion also. Oscars resume by the time he was 27 was so good its silly.
