I was gonna name this thread "Is Gammer retired"? but I've just seen on another site that he has a fight lined up. I saw Gammer make his debut and followed his career after this. He progressed well but I was disappointed in his performance against Williams, he looked overawed and didn't seem to go for it. I last saw Gammer smoking outside a pub near the CIA, just before I went into see Macca V Braithwaite, so he hardly seems to be living the life. Can he regain the British Title? Or are his best days behind him?
Nah I just think he found his level. Gammer was not that bad but still below the likes of Williams, Skelton, Audrey and Sprott. The fact that McDermott beat him must hurt.
bad move if he's coming back. i thought he was concentrating on his business? maybe he saw prizefighter and got all giddy.
Gammer is domestic gatekeeper level - that is all. He was beaten by the not so great version of Danny Williams - God knows what a fit and focused Danny would have done to him!
I thought that was the best conditioned Williams we had seen in years and years that night. He came in very light and Gammer came in very heavy and fat.
I think Gamma and his team thought they were going to come up against a fat Williams so over bulked up to compensate.
He was never very elite, he was fortunate to win the british title. Is Danny still British Champ? Whats he up to?
I'm really beyond caring about heavyweights for now. There all really poor with the odd exception. Like Martin Rogan and that kid who's fighting tonight but neither are going beyond domestic level.
Gammer probably thought Williams would be easy pickings coming off the KO loss to Audley but as Danny proved once again, you just never know what to expect out of him.
Well said. I actually felt sorry for Gammer that night, cos when danny Williams shifts the weight & is motivated, hes one helluva fighter. & wo seen tht one coming, a lean mean Danny Williams? But it happened, & he blew Gammer away.
Dunky I've just racked my brains and can't think of a single Scottish HW, past or present. Do you know of any?
Ian Millarvie. Thats about it! & what a let down hes been so far, the big mans got promise & natural talent, but hes been very inactive, & his career will probably fizzle out. Hes still regarded as a prospect though, so who knows? maybe an all Celtic showdown between Millarvie & Gammer for the british heavyweight title lies ahead...
