It's boxing -- almost anything is possible. Here are two examples I like to use to illustrate that point.

    1) Arguello once lost a fight to a 6-6 club fighter because AA busted up is right hand on the guys head, and that forced him to retire on his stool.

    2) Tommy Hearns once lost a fight because he sprained his freaking ankle.

Apart from some sort of bizzare development, a Martinez win is very unlikely.

Great interview with Martinez here. Don't believe it's posted.

Interesting that Pavlik is having trouble making weight and that Sergio's dream fight is against Mayweather.

my only worry is that martinez will be able to time pavlik's jab and counter with that laser right hook he has. aside from that, i think pavlik will win.

Pavlik was five pounds over the limit yesterday? I don't know what the usual pattern is for him, but that does not sound good.

I think somebody got that wrong. Leow said he was 163.5 yesterday morning. I just watched the weigh in. Both were 159.5. sergio looks ripped, but that is normal for him. Pav looked like his usual scrawny self.

If martinez chin can hold up...Which is the big question.......

He has the speed, legs, and overall skill set to out-box pavlik....can he take monster shots from pavlik is what will decide the fight....If he can, we are looking at a close but clear decision for SM

Who ever wants it more will win. Pavlik has already been at the top, but staying there is a different story. That there hasn't been great 160lbers for him to trade leather with well not really his fault, but all he needs to do is head up to 168 or down to 154. Like Sergio, I'm sure many will do the favor for him of moving up or down to fight him. I don't think Pavlik wants to fight other than 160. The fight with Bhops really got to him mentally, but I still think he is a deadly fighter that is as tough as they come. Martinez will have to have the fight of his life, perhaps even better than the Williams fight, and he can build an early lead, but I also expect alot of clinching and running from Martinez, but also beating Pavlik to the punch.

People forget Pavlik has a great set of whiskers and elite punchers like Miranda and Taylor couldn't put him away, as good as Martinez is, a ko puncher he is not. Maybe he might have trouble with Pavlik's workrate and most importantly his jab. But most of all, all the pressure will be on Pavlik to win and look good doing it. Martinez is also more of a headhunter.

Martinez can definitely beat Pavlik or else this fight wouldn't be so intriguing. He is slick, fast, and very underrated in the power section. This newer version of Martinez didn't get stopped by Williams I don't think he's getting stopped by Pavlik. This is not the one that got stopped by Margarito. Many people expect this to be like Hopkins-Pavlik but I don't think so. So many different factors this time around. Every dog has his days so if Pavlik loses this one he lost his edge. If Martinez wins, a new star is born.

Martinez positions himself very well and times his attack perfectly. I think he is going to make the slow Pavlik look bad. Martinez by Decision.

Martinez positions himself well? He rushes in with his chin in the air, telegraphs his lead left from to far out and then falls in, he circles the wrong way routinely, and when he clinches he leaves the entire right side of his haed and body wide open.

If he times is attacks so perfectly, how come he did nothing about the fact that Cintron routinely jumped in head first/hands down to clinch?

I'm on the Maravilla bandwagon but realistically i see this as a late stoppage for Pavlik with Sergio up slightly at the time of stoppage.
