See this is just one of the factors that I think will be the difference when people use the Hopkins-Pavlik fight. Martinez I think is more of a fighter that relies more on reflexes and natural ability, similar to a Roy Jones. I don't think he's much of a thinking fighter like Hopkins is. Martinez has mental toughness, but being the cerebral assassin Hopkins was/is is yet to be seen. That's why I'm picking Martinez by SD, but I'm still not so sure.
You see it...the guy drops his hands stays just outside then when his opponent moves he hits him where they don't expect it. When he dropped Paul Williams it had more to do with timing than power as PW was off balance. Boo When he dropped Cintron with a left that was ruled a butt...if you watch that punch again you see that Martinez is lethal from odd angles so he did do something about it [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUfOpqgg1Us[/ame] I can see Pavlik Ko him... but I still expect Martinez to frustrate Pavlik.
Well -- the Cintron fight was a travesty, and there was no head butt! I only brought Cintron up because Martinez did let Kermit back in the fight after discovering the key to beating him; right hook/straight left. Cintron also made some serious mistakes that Sergio failed to take advantage of.
Pavlik wide UD or late KO, my official prediction is KO Round 9. Bet on Pavlik "to win" and bet heavy. Money is coming in on Martinez right now so I am going to wait to make my bet so the pay off is bigger.
Sure. This site, has a betting aspect. I see you have 1000 vcash. Go put some of it or all of it on Pavlik. It isn't the real thing, but I can also explain to you how you go about getting an online site where you can actually bet real money. Or where you just saying...
I give Pavlik little chance to win UD. Yes, he may get the KO. I'd recommend the straddle if anything. Martinez to win +150 and Pavlik by KO,TKO,DQ +140. I just can't see Pavlik out boxing Martinez without getting the KO. If Pavlik is landing enough to win on points he'll get the stoppage.
Humorously, you answered your own question. But I agree with you. Not a doubt in my mind Martinez can beat Pavlik. It's a question of will he win. I also have Pavlik stopping him in 10.
