If Ruiz can't bomb him out early he might be in for a rough night. Ruiz has fought past the 6th round only once, and it wasn't against someone even close to the class of Liakhovich(even this washed up version) Not expecting Ruiz to lose here, but with his physique there is always that concern if he is dragged out of the early rounds, especially against a gritty vet like Liakhovich. If Liakhovich were to win it would his best win of the last 8 years by far. Just something to think about. :good

He has nothing to loose so why not throw away the early rounds and drag him deep? :bbb

Yeah, even most of them/us, I mean.

Ruiz was flagged as "one to watch" years ago but has languished on Solo Boxeo cards pretty much ever since, barring his mismatch with Hamer on that awful Macao PPV.

He is kind of like the heavyweight Gary Russell Jr.

I'm not sure his profile is big enough for Liakhovich upsetting him to really make waves.

To date his biggest 'tests' have been Manny Quezada, Joe Hanks, and Oliver McCall's kid. :!:

Liakhovich, faded as he is, does constitute a step up.

(saying that, I fully expect Ruiz to wipe him out and will personally be shocked if he doesn't)

Liakhovich shouldnt even be allowed to fight anymore. PERIOD
knocked out in 3 of his last 4 fights, with his lone win coming off a guy with 5 wins and 11 losses (and 8 round decision)
dude is gonna end up with brain damage at 38 fighting undefeated punchers.....boxing is sad for letting fights like this happen

If he pulls it off, I think Liakhovich deserves another crack at Shannon Briggs (seeing as how the Cannon has gabbed his way back into semi-relevance) and finally settle that score.

I don't feel that's asking for too much. :yep

Obviously upsetting the untested Ruiz doesn't magically transform him back into a contender, but the 'prize' of avenging that humiliating loss (and it was a case of him losing it, more than Briggs winning) seems reasonable enough.

It's hardly as though Briggs is a legitimate player in the world title hunt right now or "above" him or anything with all the cans he's crushing. A victory over Ruiz blows away Briggs' entire body of work since...well, Liakhovich.
