Can somebody justify why Rubin Carter is held in high esteem?

    He was an excellent fighter in his prime, which obviously wasn't around the time leading up to his jail sentence. A tremendous puncher, with underrated technical boxing skills. If anything he's held in far less esteem today due to that nonsensical film.

    No it didn't...as a matter of fact it played a huge emphasis on that in order to make the fact that he was arrested and sentenced to prison so impossible to escape from because of the jury's belief that once a crook always a crook.
