Can somebody please show me something Roy Jones has done in the last half a decade?

He beat the guy who is KO'd here in around 20 seconds of the 1st round by David Tua:

    [YT]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BLuV0vCWs_A&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BLuV0vCWs_A&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/YT]

    ...then was in this:

...which was also in 2003, then got KO'd twice, later fought a Prince and then fought the bloated guy on the left here:

Overall, not his best half-decade inside the ring, although being in the movie wasn't bad. :D

Ok, lets see some facts here:

Undefeated prospect (in Hanshaw): Did you see what happened in Hanshaw's fight right after the Jones fight?

Living legend (in Tito): Tito hadn't fought for THREE YEARS before the bout and fought at about 15-20 pounds above his best weight.

I give you the Prince win, although he is not anything special.

Who's descrediting Jones??? I'm a big fan of Roy, I just point out why he is NOT the fighter he used to be (or better as some present him:nut), why I don't see how he can beat Calzaghe (although I hope he somehow does it) and why Calzaghe shouldn't get that much credit for a win over this version of Roy.

I don't expect Jones to win but I could very easily see how it could happen. Jones is faster than Joe and does have the ablility to keep the distance... I think Jones fights well off ropes contrary to what most think...he keeps a tight defense rolls in a way in which he can throw sharp counters. Great hooks to the body and uppercuts... Hopkins sat Joe on his ass once and I think Jones has more pop so it's feasible that Jones could win...

However...Jones has really been done since the first fight with Tarver. He has had some good rounds and good fights against limited competition since then but Joe is not limited nor will a few good rounds win Jones a fight against Joe...

That's a big reason why Jones isn't a HUGE underdog. He has had some REALLLY good rounds/spurts of fighting.

It seems (to me) that when he wants to turn it up, he can/will (see round 11 hanshaw vs RJJ)

This thread title just reminds me of Bernard Hopkins' rant on Roy from way back when.

"Roy Jones...having done in tha world of boxing lately to even CONSIDER HISSELF A POUND FOR POUND..UH...CHAMPION."

Bernard: "Hey Roy, you thought I'd be gone by now".

Roy: "Where did I think you was going"?

    :rofl Priceless

That was over 5 years ago and at HW obviously. As you say though, he did do a movie within the last 5 years.

To be honest I started it after a few drinks last night; it's not the best thought out thread in the world. Having said that it should fit in well here.;) :D

Jones hasn't done anything for 5 years though. Getting a shot at the p4p no3 off the back of the Tito fight is ridiculous.

Since making John Ruiz look like a dick in the ring back in 2003, Royal Jones really hasn't done Jack.... So he beat up a bloated Felix Trinidad, I expected that to happen... Christ, Trinidad only fights every blue moon or so since 2001.... And, I don't care who wins between "Calzaghe & Jones" next month.... Peace...:verysad

Has Jones done anything lately to deserve this fight????

The answer is no......the perks of being a living legend i guess.:yep
