Cotto or Cotto's promoter will do. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, just that I haven't seen it. I keep seeing people sayin Floyd should fight Cotto, so I take it Cotto has wanted this fight....
I've never seen it aswell. I've only seen him redirect to his promoter a zillion times (The all-ever inspiring 'I'll do whatever my promoter says'-line. Such a burning desire :roll.
In the last telecast of telefutura when he was the promoters the ring ride guys interview him and he said that if de la hoya or floyd want to fight him they need only to call and the fight is done, he said that he don't care who of those two whant more he said he will train a beat them both, then he smile when the ring comentators mentioned that those fights will bring a lot of money and he said that's these are the fights who we worked and why we chose to box.
cotto says "i want to fight all the top guys and big names".....and then will say "i'll fight whomever my team tells me to". i think cotto really does want to fight floyd though, but he may need to pressure top rank to help make the fight.
Floyd don't want to make bussiness with Arumm and the same with Arum. the egos of these two will make the fight to never happend. I'm sure about that.
And I think that in other interviews Cotto and Arum have said that Floyd doesn't want to fight him because Floyd knows what he brings and that it will be a tough fight and Floyd doesn't want to take real challenges. I can't remember if they said exactly that, but it was something like that.
There's a video on b-o-x-i-n-g-s-c-e-n-e.com where he talks about fighting him. Interview was conducted a day or two before Hatton-Mayweather.
People said the same about Kessler & Calzaghe. A lot of people are quick to assume fighters are ducking. realistically I doubt many of the top guys are scared to fight anyone except Mayweather coz he seems to chase money even tho he does'nt need it, instead of fighting the top WW's.
Its obvious Cotto and Floyd are willing to fight anyone, management on the other hand seems to have the last saying when it comes to who they step in the ring with. The politics involved is seemingly destroying the integrity of the sport, its totally disheartening.
Floyd made it know that Arum kept Cotto away from him and now that Floyd's at the top - Arum would like to cash in and make the fight. Cotto doesn't call out people - but he's willing to fight whom-ever. If Cotto makes it pass Gomez - him and Floyd should look to do something at the or beginning of the year. Unless Cotto looks bad and Shane looks great against Judah - then you can look for Shane to get that fight.
cotto needs to call fighters out now. He's no longer an up and comer. He needs to call his management to make fights with who he wants, not who they want. Floyd and Cotto both want the fight. Arum is the issue.
