I'd love someone to describe the Cotto-Mosley fight too....I never saw it and am dying to find out the specifics of it.
COTTO vs MOSLEY Cotto started out very strong, outjabbing Mosley, landing the clean/authoritative shots. Mosley had success with the overhand right and right uppercut, but Cotto was landing hard body shots, hard right hands, and left hooks. The tide turned in the mid-late rounds as Cotto started fighting off the backfoot. He was moving and moving, picking spots to counter Shane. But Shane's pressure and body shots in some of these rounds led me to give the rounds to him. Cotto had a couple good rounds where he outboxed Mosley and countered him very effectively. Cotto was actually landing the clean/effective shots despite moving off of the backfoot. I had it 115-113 Cotto (I thought it was close, but clear) MAYWEATHER vs HATTON Hatton started out very aggressive, knocking Floyd off balance with a jab and closing the distance. It looked as though Floyd was troubled by Hatton's foot speed and ability to quickly close the gap. But Floyd was still knocking Hatton's head back with lead right hands. Hatton continued to press forward and close the distance. He was outworking Floyd, but getting hit with more powershots and getting hit with the cleaner shots. His aggression was somewhat ineffective. Hatton had his best round in round 5 when Floyd went into a defensive shell against the ropes and Hatton outworked him, landing some nice body shots and 2 or 3 good power shots upstairs. Floyd adjusted though and never looked back. He kept Hatton at a distance, potshotted him with lead rights and left hook. After a while, Hatton had not snap or power in his punches and Floyd was getting the better of him on the inside. In round 8, he had Hatton ready to go. In round 9, he put on a jabbing clinic, knocking Hatton's head back with every one. In round 10, Hatton came forward with a lunging left hook and was countered with Floyd's check hook. Hatton went to the canvas, got up, and was KO'd within the next 10 seconds. At the time of the stoppage, I had it 6-2-1 for Floyd.
For Cotto/Mosley - go here: (I scored this fight even) http://boxing-pics.com/cotto_mosley/mulholland_cotto.html For Hatton/Mayweather - go here: (Good fight - but very one-sided) http://www.fighthype.com/pages/content1485.html
This saves me having to bother as its almost identical to what I saw. Ps. Hatton also had a point deducted for an attempted punch to the back of the head in rd 6 but in my mind made absolutely no difference to the outcome as the better fighter won (& Im british) Also, the cotto mosely fight was a definate win for cotto, close enough to say shane was still in the fight but ridiculous to say cotto didnt win, he just looked too strong all night long.
you will here a lot of jack from most. but from an unbias boxing fan... mosely gave cotto a tough fight, no one was ever really hurt but one could really be impressed of cottos boxing skill. he outboxed shane to win a close UD. Shane came on in the later rounds but cotto did enough early. classic boxing match. Ive heard ppl on here say that hatton/pbf wasnt close. and the offical cards had pbf dominating. but the trueth is hatton gave pbf a good fight. i had hatton winning 5 of the first 6 rounds. There was a lot of fouling and clinching. Most of which was mayweather yet the ref took a point from hatton. ??? even lampley and steward was saying pbf was doing the clinching/fouling. Mayweather found his way in the 7th, stopped his potshotting and started putting his punches together. He would not allow hatton to get off. when hatton got inside he would get elbows/gloves to his cut eye followed by fast combos that eventuallly slowed hatton down. Hatton then trys to fight from the outside and gets KOed by a perfect left hook. Cortez stops the fight as hatton got up and then back down on shakey legs. an ugly dirty fight. mayweather used cortez to his advantage.
A fair assessment on both accounts. However I would mention that it was pretty clear round 5 was given to Hatton. Floyd was in no trouble at all, he just wanted to build Hattons confidence up so he would take more chances. Worked out pretty well in the end. Floyd was in control 100% of the time. At the time of the stoppage I had it 7-2-0 Floyd.
