So Abraham held in that fight, he has an unproven chin, and he ran...all with a broken jaw lol... You keep on stating that people say he went toe to toe with Miranda with a broken jaw when I have not seen or read this from anyone with a brain for boxing. AA came to America and knocked Miranda on his ass in front of his home crowd. Nobody believes AA ran in that fight except YOU!
:huh that's just creepy. he is extremely strong and has fantastic timing with those big, wild shots. his skill is generally underrated by fans. he doesn't have very good footwork and his balance and coordination don't seem to be all that great, but with his style he is able to make up for those with his strengths and the things he does well. the thing about AA is we really haven't seen him in there with an elite fighter at smw yet. for all we know a guy like andre ward could get in there with him and make him look ridiculous. i think dirrell might even have a decent chance to beat him if he stays away (like he normally does when he fights) and picks his spots.
I'd say his footwork is alright to be honest. As already stated, he manages to cut off the ring fairly well. And he's always in the right place to get his shots off. Doesnt have to worry about his footwork defensively as his guard soaks most shots. Agree his balance isnt great, seems to have to plant his feet sometimes (still bangs without planting mind).
I think AA's balance is good. AA is doing well against taller guys, and does not let his height or reach disadvantage hurt him in fights.
Many fighters have their share of wild punches, Pacquiao can throw wild punches, Mosley, Mayweather and even the likes of Hopkins. He might have wild punches but he also has straight ones that seriously hurt when they land. What makes him popular is power and we all know he has a lot of power and can carry it all the way to the last second of the 12th. What makes a small crew of drunken trailer park worthless losers bash on him is the fact that they're defending their idol and probably the most terrible middleweight champion in history Kelly "Pride of trailer valley" Pavlik. Abraham constantly tried to make that fight till they totally turned him down and as soon as he moved up they're starting to call him out and claim he's scared. What's funnier is a certain trailer park loyalist here saying Abraham did indeed move up to super middleweight and joined the tournament out of fear of being forced to fight their trailer lord and I'm NOT joking, he should have made over 10 posts in this thread already. Now ***lik and his team are doing the same thing with Williams, they canceled to fight him because of injured fingers but didn't have problems defending against yet another tomato can and as soon as Williams decides to move down after a tough fight they're all over his nuts because they know he's moving down.
Not a KP fan then? I think Pavlik was/is massively overrated on these boards but "the most terrible middle weight champion in history" is unfair I think. Felix Sturm springs to mind. I'll admit that prior to AA's jump to SMW and KP's defeat to BHop I couldnt call a fight between the two, because neither of their records had a fair amount of depth. For the record, I think AA would now knock his head off. Back to the point in hand though. I think AA is a good champion at middleweight and a good contender at SMW. Remains to be seen for me how he gets on against an athletic boxer and against a true SMW. After the Dirrell and then Froch fights, we'll know how good he really is. To bang my predicitions in, I reckon Dirrell may just cause an upset against AA. But I reckon AA will then spark out Froch.
I can't believe you'd pick on that but not his most glaring weakness...the weakness of the fabric of his boxing trunks during the Taylor fight.
I agree, Abraham has very good timing, and the other thing being overlooked is his punch estimation. As he was tiring vs. Taylor, he often dropped his hands and still was able to fight effectively, even countering Jermain's world class jab with his own left hand time to time, which is quite a task if you have the shorter hands. To me the quick wide left hook seemed to shake Taylor's legs a bit right before the bullet 1-2 knocked him cold. This content is protected
Arthur Abraham knocked out the great Elvin Ayala, and out pointed Lujaun Simon. And hey, if Ayala was good enough to get a draw with Sergio Mora, and Simon was good enough to beat Bronco McKart's left overs, well, ya just can't ask for much moreatsch
Opinions are fine and good but you have a faulty grasp of the facts here. Others have already corrected your errors of fact in this thread but no one seems to have drawn your attention to one of your biggest whoppers, highlighted above. You state that the point deductions were unwarranted and cost Miranda the fight. First, he was warned several times about low blows and continued anyway. He got away with at least one low blow and one head butt AFTER the point deductions began. The double-butt was sufficiently egregious to warrwnt DQ, in light of earlier warnings and earlier deductions. BUT, even if NO points had been deducted, he would STILL HAVE LOST THE FIGHT. THE POINTS DEDUCTIOS DID NOT AFFECT THE FINAL OUTCOME. Miranda had FIVE points deducted. The judges scores were: Italian Judge: 114 - 109 American Judge: 115 - 109 British Judge: 116 - 109 If you add the FIVE deducted points back into Miranda's score, the result would then have been: Italian Judge: 114 - 114 American Judge: 115 - 114 British Judge: 116 - 114 And Abraham would STILL have won.
Boo, there's not a single soul on this forum (save perhaps Hermit) who puts an ounce of credence in any post you make on here that concerns Pavlik or Abraham. Your at-arms-length, A>B>C analysis is so ****ing contrived as to be hilarious. A beat B badly and B was a bum, so if C can only beat B by decision, then C must be a BUM.....kinda **** reasoning. If you apply that kind of reasoning to your boy Pav, he was utterly outclassed by Bernard, who sports two losses to Taylor , so how does that make Taylor look compared to Pav ? See, it doesn't work like that. AA fights to the level of his competition. ( And my point still stands even if you think Bernard should have got the nod against Taylor. At least Jermaine was competitive) So do yourself and your credibility a favour and pass on AA threads for a while until the dust settles.
