Can someone explain how Lomachenko is top 10 P4P?

He's got the talent, no doubt. But he's 6-1, his resume is nothing special. I see a lot of people claiming he's the best or top 10 and in some cases, number 1 P4P. Are they just basing this off of the eye test or am I missing something with his body of work?

he hasn't had 15-20 tune up fights before stepping up to elite competition like most other fighters, he's jumped right into the deep end, that has to be taken into account...

Depends if you're basing it off who beats who, or resumé. For me, he's without doubt among the 10 best boxers today, regardless of 'who he beat doe'.

Let's say Vargas and Salido rematch and Loma beats the winner, you'd have to place him top ten then.

Definitely, and despite being highly competitive, he paid for it early.
When I think p4p, I think skills, resume, and victories. He's a top p4p talent, but I can't rank him for that alone. I just feel like people jumped on the bandwagon too quickly.

The most complete fighter we have.

Straight into world championship fights and a two weight world champion.

I personally have him number 1 P4P, but obviously it's objective. But he definitely is top 5.

My interpretation is simply 'if everyone was the same weight, who'd be the best'.

There's an inherent problem with looking at resume here, in that matches are not dictated as they are in most sports, but chosen, bar some token gesture with mandos. So the eye test absolutely has to come in to it. And if anyone passes with distinction it's Lomachenko.

2 weight world champion after 7 fights. And he can go up to 135lb and win easily as well.

His resume is special for a 6-1 fighter.

P4P is a very subjective thing just based on opinion. There are many good fighters who I expect arent followed by some of the P4P decision makers and dont get as well known or recognised.

Theres some I dont really understand why they are rated so highly as I always feel ratings should be compiled by results rather than hype and potential

Most complete fighter in the game.

    Already has historical accomplishments.

I also rate GR highly, so Loma schooling him counts for alot.

I have to admit that I still don't understand what best pound for pound fighter really means?

I think people use different criteria. Like someone else mentioned, if everyone was the same weight, who would be on top. I look at it more as "what have you actually done" rather than "what could you potentially do".

I feel like he was allowed to leap frog into championship fights because he was heavily backed by HBO. I understand some guys want tuneups or don't want those fights period.

p4p is subjective, why does it matter?
