Can Someone Explain To Me Why It Is Thought That Floyd Almost Lost To ODLH?

They can't. Oscar was aggressive sure but it was ineffective. He flurried in the last 10 seconds trying to steal rounds. He was scared to let his hands go in the middle of the ring and as well. Also he was either countered or missed PBF when he was against the ropes. The only thing Oscar did well for awhile was jab that is until PBF took it away. In the end PBF landed the cleaner and harder shots and was the general in the ring and OScar faded down the stretch on cue. PBF won that fight either 8-4 or 9-3 the fact that the one judge had it for Oscar is criminal. This fight was a clear UD win for PBF and anyone who doesn't agree either doesn't know how to score a fight or is a Oscar hugger or both.:deal

 

These guys think being the aggressor means that you win in the ring generalship category. They think throwing lots of punches, connect or not, means something. They cant see that good & thought all those punches landed.

 

I think we've all heard the argument. It has to do with activity and aggression. De la Hoya threw over 100 more punches than Mayweather (even though he was outlanded by 85). Many of Mayweather's shots came while he was countering. Also, because of their quick, short, precise nature there was a tendency for some to miss them. De la Hoya's punches, on the other hand, were longer and wider, and hence more visible. Combine this with a come forward strategy and many were given what they felt to be appropriate conditions to give a great deal of the first half of the fight to De la Hoya.

As I recall, I scored it 8-4 for Mayweather, but some guests watching it at my house made claims drawing on the reasoning articulated above.

 

PBF won, but he made Winky fall asleep during the fight, that's how bad it was.

 

i thought it was a clear victory for floyd. the "oscar abandoned the jab after the 6th round is ludacris. he actually threw more jabs during the second half of the fight. im not a fan of floyd but cant they at least say that floyd made the adjustment to take oscars jab away?

 

They hate Floyd because of who he didn't fight. They saw Dlh jab, and were disappointed that he couldn't keep jabbing the whole fight. They say Floyd lost, or the fight was close so that if PAc beats Dlh, his fans can say Pac did this while Floyd didn't do this. They hate Floyd's big mouth that's all. Everyone knows Floyd clearly won the fight.

 

It was a clear as daylight UD for Floyd. Maybe Tom Kaczmarek thought he was scoring a beauty contest. Judges like that should be up for review.

 

1. De La Hoya was effictive with his jab in the early rounds.
2. De La Hoya is still a pretty good boxer.

 

i scored it 7-5 for pbf. 1 round the other way, and he doesn't win

I think prime Oscar would take care of Floyd handily. Floyd has a hard time dealing with jabbers. Other than Oscar, who has he faced that has a first class jab?

Oscar has been on the slide since the 2nd fight vs mosley

 

I hope you realize the problem with this statement. You claim Floyd only faced one good jabber, and then state that he has problems with jabbers despite the fact that he went up in weight and won a clear decision against a much bigger guy with a longer reach.

9-3, 8-3-1 or 8-4 are the only scores acceptable, anything else is unacceptable. The judge who gave it to Oscar, I wonder if he's gotten any other big fights since then.

 

no there is the problem with the statement. A good jab is not only a question of reach, theres also speed and explosiveness that you have to factor in, something that Oscar doesn't have as much of anymore. So despite the fact that Floyd edged out Oscar, who had a great jab in his prime, Oscar's jab has still eroded, and therefore thats one of the reasons i see prime Oscar beating Floyd comfortably.

Also, is there another great jabber that Floyd has beaten?

 

Yeah, but you claim he has problems with jabbers even though he went up in weight to beat a guy who has a pretty good jab.
