Can someone explain to me why the Hell Gatti is in the hall of Fame?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Stylesmakefight, May 8, 2013.

  1. I already made the point that Gatti had losses, try and keep up. I said so did tapia, but did he do anything special to make up for it, because Gatti did. Tapia's backflips were not enough.

  2. Listening to this stupid ****, you would think that Gatti didn't win any of those fight of the years, or win titles in two different weights and make many successful title defenses.

If Sylvester Stallone is in the hall of fame, Gatti has the right to be

I'm waiting to see if Micky Ward gets there, cause then u know its only becuz the movie

IMO the hall of shame shouldn't just be about your record, but other factors involved in the sport as well.....hate it or love it, gatti held boxing on his shoulders for a very long time, and never, i mean never dissapointed.....

So just put all of the strapholders into the hall of fame.

And he was in the fight of the year so many times because he was taking beatings in the ring against journeyman. Is this even up for debate?

Stallone was inducted for his contributions to the sport. Who, outside of actual fighters, has contributed more?

  9. I think your on to something, I hope all the fighters see your advice. To get fight of the year four times, you need to get beat up. Yes, very smart. I guess you have to be so good at it that you get beat up, but not to beat up so you can still give it back, seems like such a simple strategy, I wonder why only Carmen basilio have four or more fight of the year.

Don't give it to all of the strap holders with titles in multiple weight classes like Gatti, but if you also have fight of the year four times and were involved in one one the top trilogy's of all time, then I say well that's spectacular, a standout in the sport, and a giant achievement.

Don't try and backpedal now.Tapia was also a 3 weight champ and as has been mentioned, Gatti was in FOTYs against very average fighters.
Now I know you keep trying to ignore this, but I think Gatti should get in(now again, try to understand...
    BUT NOT A FIRST BALLOT!!
    And for the people bitching about Stallone,I'll try again even though Jeff has put it perfectly before me;
NON-PARTICIPANT.As in,contribution to the sport without competing.

Exactly! What a superb post mate.:deal

What they should do here is make it clear that this is a special award,as Gatti is never a first ballot inductee under the current criteria.
He never beat an A- fighter, and struggled against a few C level guys.
Silly me!:patsch I forgot he had exciting fights against run of the mill fighters.

Pernell Whitaker should be kicked out of the IBHOF with immediate effect.

Yet again your reading comprehension lets you down badly.
And I know I have great posts.Do you think I need a shitty poster like you to tell me that?

See if you can understand what I meant when all the relevant posts are on the same page.
And again;FIRST BALLOT,since you keep trying to avoid my point.

  14. Exactly, now you almost got it, I will feed you baby bird. Gatti and Tapia both had world titles in different weight classes but also lost fights, Tapia lost his share as well, but what was different between them after that? Tapia did backflips and Gatti had fight of the year four times and fought in one of the best trilogy's ever, and made a bigger impact on the sport of boxing

  15. Sure, first ****in ballot. What a whiny ***** you are. (He says Gatti should be in the hall of fame, he is just whining like a ***** because he got in too fast, what a ******). If there was a list made of fighters who had the biggest impact on boxing over the decade when Gatti fought, I know Gatti would be high on the list, so yeah that's first ****in ballot. My criteria is different than yours. Your criteria does not care about four times fight of the year, or what he gave to the sport, or you undervalue it, what can I expect your a big Tapia fan.
