Can someone explain what Froch's 7 figure offer to Groves was?

According to the BBC Froch offered Groves a 7 "figure offer for a fight".
Why did Groves turn this down and then get the exact same fight, but ordered by the IBF?
I can't see any details of what the offer was, and there was obviously some sort of catch, so what was it?

I'm thinking Froch would offer a fight then pull out and by then it would be too late for the IBF to demand a rematch?

I just don't get why a fight was offered, turned down, then the exact same fight ordered by the IBF all within a day.

Can someone explain it to me?

he offered something so ridiculous apparently that he knew it would get turned down...so now when he doesnt fight him he can use that as an excuse and put it all on Groves. classic dick boxing move

Groves should get better terms now the IBF has ordered the rematch. Froch obviously tried to force through a deal before the IBF annoucement but Groves wanted to wait to for the ruling.

It was a BS offer so IBF stepped in and told Froch do better!

According to Groves it had too many stipulations attached to accept it, didn't elaborate on what they were though. That being said, Groves did say that he thought they were still in the process of negotiation when Froch went to the press about it.

Firstly it wasn't a Froch offer...

It was Eddie Hearn slimy fuc.ker offer.

Secondly it's 7 figure not just for this fight. But to also to be tied in to Hearn promotional company for next x amount of fights.....

All sounds well underhanded. No wonder groves said no. He would be happier to have 15% of whatever the pie brings in and be a free agent...:deal

Most likely the offer Groves received was great money wise but came with clauses which he didn't like & now the IBF has ordered the rematch he won't be dictated to, it's work out well for Groves in my opinion

I heard it was twice than what he got in the first fight which was 500k so £1m, but there was lots of options attached to it and it was not a one fight deal. Groves said he was happy with the money on sky sports news but not the contract.

I'd bet anything the offer came with stipulations of Groves being tied and stuck with Hearn, maybe it was a higher % then what Groves gets now but clearly Groves doesn't want to be tied down to Hearn and who can blame him either. Eddie trying to do to Groves what Arum is doing to Bradly i reckon sign with me or no fight.

Groves should elaborate on what these stipulations was that he wasn't willing to accept.

:think But if he doesn't sign anything, then why does he have to abide by a clause?

Groves should be able to negotiate better conditions now that the IBF have insisted the fight takes place.

Dont forget Groves earned a degree from Team Haymaker in buisness and how to go it alone if need be.
