Can someone explain why khan is targetting a fight with the winner of two guys in

I don't think there is any chance of Khan-Diaz if Diaz does manage to win. The 2 losses to Malignaggi means his days up at 140 are done.

If JMM wins and still looks good, I like JMM-Khan as a fight.

 

I'm hoping Diaz wins so kahn has to fight a decent L Welter, I dont like the Marqez Kahn fight at all.

Marquez' skills are rendered useless when he cant reach the other guy and Kahn will just fight like he did against Kotelnik, to much of a size difference.

Lets not forget Marquez is not a natural Lightweight, he has grown into the weight over time but his peak was probably at feather. Just another sexy name for the Amir Kahn record and I hope Diaz throws a great big hairy arsed spanner in the works.

khan / GB see Marquez as another big name to further enhance khans rep in the states and as less of a risk than the top guys at LWW

 

I think this is the most sensible fight in terms of business. Marketing Khan is primary and they need someone like Marquez who the Americans will know to push his popularity up. To match him with Maidana, Alexander and Bradley right now will be terrible, good for us but bad for them, why have less interest in a fight now when more money can be made down the line. Going from Warren to America only represents one problem for Khan, building him up again. I'm hoping 2 fights is enough, Paulie and Marquez (if he wins). Then he should target the big boys. The other boys need to raise their profile as well.

 

I thought the winner of JMM V Diaz had to fight Katsidis or vacate the title?

 

Its certainly not ideal but I don't understand all the moaning and gnashing of teeth. It was OK for JMM to take on Mayweather at 147 but all of a sudden it would be a mismatch for the same fighter to take on a man two talent levels below Mayweather at the lighter weight. Tonight will show us if Marquez has anything left (I believe he does) and if he does he could give Khan all sorts of problems.

 

Which they'll probably be happy to do if there's a more lucrative opportunity, ie, a fight with Khan. I was against Khan v JMM at first, but I've come around to the idea. JMM would be going for a title in a fourth weight class and it's an interesting match up of styles. JMM is looking to close out his career and top up the bank balance; if Khan is a more lucrative fight than Katsidis, I have no problem with JMM taking it. It's not as if he would be cherry picking, Khan's the tougher fight!

 

Tend to agree Khan V JMM would be the bigger fight...just hope they take the belt and give it to Katsidis as hes been waiting for a shot for ages as mandatory

Khan V Katsidis would also be a great fight...Khan ahead in the skills and speed but if Kats can catch him early and often you never know.

 

Why fight an 'unknown' guy in their prime when he can add the name of a great to his resume?

Its been done for years by loads of fighters.
