Pacquiao should be the LAST! fighter in the game to be labled a fighter who falls victim of being drained in training camp.

The fight should be at 140lbs IMO.Its about training, and how much better of a camp Pacquioa would have if the fight to be at 147lbs.

Pacquiao has talent and utilizes his ability's like very few fighters today, but imo,Manny wins his fights in training before he even steps in the ring.

Pacquiao's camp always demand some sort of weight restriction or what not,so why not let Manny shed a few pounds in training this time.

I know, but it just seems silly seeing as he has a couple of lbs advantage at most based on the ring weights for their last few fights.

Judging from the Margo weigh in pics, Pac could cut to below 140lb I would guess - but he is in the driving seat with the negotiations and might not want to just to prove he's the boss

I dont think many people were led to believe Floyd Jr was a big guy.

    5'8" 157 or so pounds = average,not big.

Regarding Pac gaining advantage, that is a recent occurence. Prior to the David Diaz fight, Pac was the one dehydrating himself to Skeletor levels to face the three great Mexicans. And not like gaining an advantage is monopolized by Pac. PWill did it to Marquez. PWill did it to Martinez (LOL), etc.etc It has been done since the early days of boxing.

And let us be honest here, Pac has asked all his competitions to ONE weight class OR LESS (ODLH, Margo and Cotto).

I thought JMM looked great at 145 vs Kat. And everyone in ESB thought so to.

JMM knows that at 135 his chance is ZERO in gettign the fight signed. Most of the public would not accept it. Arum, Roach and Pac would not accept it. At 140 he can make a case and have people back him up that is a good compromise.

    I agree.

HOWEVER, saying 147 is not possible is BS also. He can't make 147. But he can make 141-145, which contrary to popular ESB thinking, IS WELTERWEIGHT.

Now we can have a catchweight say at 143. Fine. JMM can weigh 140 and come in 145. Pac can weigh 143 and come in 148.

    3 Lbs.

It benefits Marquez because it forces Pacquiao to lose an additional 5 pounds from his last weigh-in.

    That's it.

It barely makes a difference at all considering Pacquiao was not trying at all to lose weight against Margo.

There is only a 3lb difference in size between em, which is a very small advantage for Pac. Having the fight at 140 creates a slight advantage for Marquez to counter that.

For me, 140 or 147 will not make a difference on the outcome. This fight could have no weight whatsoever for all I care. Each fighter comes in the best shape he can come in, that's what I want.

Simply put, Marquez wants to drain Pacquiao? Personally I don't think it will matter on his fight with Marquez. But we have to remember Manny is getting old and draining-rehydrating weight taxes his body. It might affect his future fights and with Floyd on the horizon small things matters.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Marquez weighed 148 during his fight with Mayweather.

Bodies are very fickle so it's hard to make sweeping statements about optimal weight.

On the MP vs JMM situation:
The best weight is probably 140 because they would be meeting in between divisions from which they fight at.

Two weight is just a number, but it doesn't reflect the quality of that number. Even though MP competition weight has been in the mid 140's since 130/135, the quality of that weight has changed substantially. After weigh-ins fighters generally over-hydrate to keep hydrated over the course of the match. After weighing in at 135 he put on about 10lbs, some food, but mostly water. Over the course of the fight he could have probably been loosing up to 5lbs of sweat or more. MP now is competing at 147+ and looks a lot thicker due to added muscle.

I'm pretty sure if you put MP (147) vs MP (135), MP (147) would be a lot stronger even though fight night would be the same weight.

    JMM situation:
JMM definitely came in thicker for the FMJ match (more muscle and fat!) VS Katsidis he was a lot leaner and was probably filled mostly with water (maybe with gear on?). HBO probably doesn't have a consistent weigh in method.

If JMM had a master nutritionist and fitness instructor like MP he would probably could move up to 147 a lot more balanced (top/bottom ratio) and retain a lot of his speed. He goes by very old school methods and it's costing him.

JMM said Floyd may very well be 160 that night and that he really felt the size difference when they fought
