Alot of Kings past keeps getting brought up. HIs prison time for murder and all that junk. So his image is further tarnished in viewers eyes.
IMO Arum and King kept this sport together and even though they don't like each other they still made the big fights happen between the two. They never had this bull**** garbage "cold war" between each other like Golden Boy Promotions and Arum had with each other.
I agree. Don't get me wrong. They have done a lot of great things for boxing. I just don't see how King is any more crooked than Arum.
I didnt say he was any worse. I think they are one in the same. Is one snake any better than the other?
He single handedly destroyed the HW division in the lasy 10 years. What has Arum done of that magnitude?
I know King will make the big fights no matter what he thinks will happen. I seriously doubt Arum would've ever fed Mayorga to Tito. He won't even let Pavlik fight Winky.
I don't think that either of those guys are bad for boxing. If you're a boxer and smart with your money, you can make alot of money fighting under either of those guys. Tito makes about 10-14m a fight, Miguel Cotto is on his way to making that much money. One thing they do is make sure that you're paid if you're doing the job right.
boxing was kept together in spite of arum and king, not because of them since goldenboy has come into power imo, boxing has been on another level... i cant wait for them to reign supreme so non of this promoter bs gets in the way.
I don't think Don King has hurt the Heavyweight division ... He's probably the only one that hasn't given up on the Heavyweight's. Alot of boxing fans have given up, TV networks, and Promoters want nothing to do with the HW division. Don King still has a ton of HW's in his stable and probably will have a hand in some big HW fight in the future.
you dont think arum is bad for boxing, or king??? King is one of the MAIN reasons we hadnt had a unified heavyweight champion... and i only need to point to arums recent **** offs with pavliks next opponent to show how he hurts the sport. both are bad for boxing.
You make good points Kirk but both guys have been making huge fights all the way back to the days of Ali/Foreman. They deserve credit for that.
