I only know a little about the master. Can someone please give me a little bit more analysis on them thank you.
He was arguably the greatest lightweight of all time, a lock for top 3 imo. Everyone universally acknowledged him as a boxing master, and would continue to do so for decades. Even Blackburn tried modelling Joe Louis after Gans. Here is the best footage we have on Gans from what I know of: This content is protected
athleticism built on necessity as I remember it... he was merely a boy being thrown into Battle Royals by money men & gamblers for Racist Enjoyment. Joe Gans soon came out the victor in many such affairs, he was obviously snatched up by some money men and became a legitimate Prizefighter. His Skills were honed early but obviously became more refined & seasoned under more fair conditions & contests. I can't remember the finer details to the Who's Who of his career & handlers, but he was alway noted as a boxing Master and technically scientific fighter... it's been 20 years & more, since I had my head right into all this kind of stuff. But Gans was a recognized pioneer Boxer, rather than just a Brawler or a Fighter. a Marvel then & still. there are a few Posters here who are far more clued upon that Era of transition from Bare Knuckles to the Gloved Era of Prizefighting. They will know some of the more career detailed events in the progression & sustenance of the Old Master Joe Gans. He wasn't the only one either, but certainly among the Very Best of them.
The arguable GOAT of LW and an easy pick for P4P top 10. Pioneered the jab and the entire art of scientific fighting, once fought 3 fights in a single day iirc. One of the greatest fighters to have ever lived and the first African American champion. Lee Wylie used to have a video breaking down Gans' technical ability, his use of the jab and his counterpunching and timing if that's the kind of analysis you're after, though it is privated and might be hard to track down. The Fight City has some really good articles on him as well. https://www.thefightcity.com/fight-city-legends-4-old-master/
He was the most sophisticated , skilled fighter of his generation. The short version is he has a very strong argument for top five P4P ... he fought the toughest of the tough from middleweight to heavyweight , had a few losses along the way but only a few ( till after he lost the heavyweight title ) in a very active career fighting exceptional competition .. Burley, Maxim, Bivins, Marshall, Moore, Smith, Walcott, Louis, Lesnevich ...then to give Marciano such a terrific fight .. at his best , wow,.
