I've already given my reasons, I'm sure you know them as well.

But my point is that those are the top 3 welters not named Floyd. He's p4p#1, so he should be fighting the best in his division, if he doesn't, the fans aren't gonna get excited.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, isn't it.

The Transnational Ratings, prior to the fight.

    Welterweight
    1. Floyd Mayweather
    2. Juan Manuel Marquez
    3. Manny Pacquiao
    4. Timothy Bradley
    5. Robert Guerrero
    6. Devon Alexander
    7. Josesito Lopez
    8. Victor Ortiz
    9. Paulie Malignaggi
    10. Keith Thurman

    * Mayweather had already defeated and shut out JMM 12-0; and JMM has gone on record as saying he has no interest in the rematch.
    * Pacquiao had been KO'd by JMM.
    * Bradley was signed to face Provodnikov by the time Mayweather announced his fight; and Arum likely wouldn't try to pit him against FMJ when he could set up fights against pac or JMM down the road.
    * Alexander was slated to face Kell Brook (and when Floyd tweeted about the possibility of facing him, the haters were up in arms)
    * Lopez was scheduled to face Maidana,
    * Ortiz had already been defeated by FMJ.

Also, Canelo was scheduled to face Trout; and had Floyd targeted him prior to that victory, he would have been excoriated for facing someone "who had yet to be tested:.

Guerrero was as good, and viable a choice as their was at 147, all things considered. The fact that he didn't perform as well as the haters expected doesn't alter that fact for one split second.

It doesn't matter. He makes anyone he fights at 147 look like ****, period. Yet and still people act like 147 is his natural weight class and want him to go up to 160. He barely has enough power to keep *****s off him at 147. SMFH.

Pot calling the kettle black? Manny's formula. Barrera 2X, Morales 3X, JMM 4X ... That's almost 1/4 of his fights.

Ummm, fighting not just hall of famers, but all time greats, multiple times is not something to frown upon and definitely isn't a negative. Fighting someone multiple times is inherently dangerous, especially when they have the pedigree of guys like MAB, Erik, and JMM. You tend to identify habits, quirks, tricks, etc. It's definitely a huge plus to have trilogies on one's record. It's just natural that great fighters figure each other out the more they face each other. No way around it.

And 9 fights is not 1/4 of his fights. Not even close. Go back to school.

It doesn't matter if "no one else was available" and it certainly doesn't matter how many times people ask the question, "Who else was he suppose to fight?"...the sad fact is legacy is primarily dependent upon the quality of a fighter's resume, the quality of the opposition he faced. No amount of fake retirements, fanboy revisionist history, or excuses can change that.
