I've been trying to find info on him, but my internet searches have not been too fruitful. Can someone educate me on him?
To kick things off, he seems to have been practically impossible to outpoint cleanly. Everybody who beat him seems to have either stopped him, or won a controversial decision. This is worth noting given the exceptional level of competition he fought. He was always vulnerable to stoppage however. He ended the title reign of the immortal Harry Greb, and lost his title to Mickey Walker in a controversial decision. The guy who really seems to have had his number is Jimmy Delaney. Oh, and he was a theologian who often recited passages from the bible before a fight.
