Can someone school me on what BJS is thinking?

something funny about these posts declaring he has been offered between 3 and 5 million dollars...has anyone posted a solid source of this ?
i would have presumed that bjs would have been 500,000 sterling maybe or so worth in a fight like this.
something fishy about these sourceless figures been thrown about.

 

BJS is not in all that strong a position, surprisingly. Yes he has a belt..but for a white english boxer (you would think he would be a big seller) he has surprisingly little appeal with the British public.

Also since he is small and a light puncher he relies totally on winning every fight on points he is always at risk of losing - a lot can go wrong in 12 rounds. Almost every opponent is high risk.

Maybe they will take GGG???

NOBODY wants to fight GGG in the MW Division. NOBODY.

 

BJS should accept the offer
He won't make anywhere near that amount so should take it, where he will get ko'd.
No shame getting beat by GGG, also if he declines and ends up fighting Eubank Jnr there is a very good chance he would lose the rematch, then where does he go from there?
Best having a few million in his pocket and the Eubank Jnr fight would still be there

 

I agree he should take it. While having BJS with the WBO belt looks good for BN, I can't see it actually helping make financial gains for the network. It didn't sell v Lee, so how can they expect to do good business elsewhere. They can't afford the likes of Quillen or Jacobs in UK and I honestly don't think 'soft' defences elsewhere will bring in any business at all. The CEJ fight would do numbers but it could prove difficult to make that fight and imagine BJS lost, he would have nowhere to go.

A couple of million for BJS, cut for ******, exclusive to Boxnation (maybe even the new Box Office platform) would generate good publicity among casual fans. If BJS puts in a good show his stock would rise and he could still fight CEJ

 

There's no rush. If I were in his position I would want to have as many fights as possible and make as much money as possible before fighting Golovkin and getting stopped. Saunders is younger too to time is on his side.

 

The general English public will never back someone who identifies themselves as a traveler.

 

If BJS fights GGG in the next 6 months it will be because his people made an offer they couldn't refuse.

 

I don't think thats 100% true mate, I think the biggest problem with BJS is that he doesn't catch the publics imagination! He isn't exciting to watch, doesn't KO people cold, isn't great in front of the camera, his trash talking isn't very good as shown in the build up to CEJ fight, no charisma etc

I think you need something to get the casual fan to follow you, Naz had KO power, Eubank snr had charisma, Benn and Ricky Hatton had fan friendly styles, David Haye and George Groves can sell fights. I just think that no matter how great BJS becomes the public will never take to him similarly I see it being the same with James Degale, hence why as world champion Degale is having to up sticks and fight away.

 

Isnt that a bit odd? Here is a world champion that is native English, speaks English, is white etc etc yet the public wont take to him????

You do. You need a gimmick - some kind of gimmick to attract support.

 

He has all the boxes ticked that are needed to become a UK boxing star except for one. He isn't promoted by Sky and Matchroom. That is the only reason why he hasn't blown up yet. He's got it all. Undefeated record, trash talker, and he is great in front of the camera. He needs that sky matchroom promotion machine because let's be fair. ****** is pitiful when it comes to promoting his stars. He just needs to be on sky. That's all

 

Travelers are by and large troublemakers that nobody wants anything to do with. Rightly or wrongly no traveler will ever become a national hero in this country.

 

Whatever about becoming a national hero - (very few boxers achieve this anyway)......surely he ought to have some half-way decent level of support???
