Leonard doesn't need cuts to win, he was just the better fighter.

 

good thread that bears thought. to be honest though, i'm not one that feels napoles' skin would play that critical a roll in most fantasy fights.

out of his four knockout losses, only the stracey fight and backus fight were due to cuts. my understanding is that he was bludgeoned near to death by monzon (never watched the whole fight) but i'm unsure about the morgan loss.

basically, i think the backus fight (lossing on cuts in a shocker) has lowered the rating of his skin dramatically. as he aged, scar tissue built up but in his prime there's really no reason to think it was that fragile

 

He lost to Morgan on cuts, and cuts also contributed to the Monzon loss.

 

well there you go. i always thought monzon just beat the **** out of him without cuts being an issue. guess not.

 

Napoles did alright until Monzon cut him with one of his right hands I believe. After that, Napoles couldn't see the rights coming and it turned into a one-sided beating.

 

Leonard was too physically superior at the weight for Napoles to win, in my opinion. He wouldn't stop him, though, I don't think. Napoles had an iron chin and an iron will.
