I think that fighting at such a high weight for his physique, he’s going to cop some shots that he could avoid at 126 & 130 due to the significant height & reach advantages his opponents have. Some folk are suggesting a decline in his natural attributes due to the huge amount of mileage and injuries that have come with it. It may be a bit of both. Personally, I reckon Loma will only fight about 3 more times before retiring. He’s already achieved almost all he can.
He needs to move back down in reality. Campbell was far too big for him. He’s still a top, top, top fighter and will be remembered as an ATG.
I agree. He's maxed at 135, I think he's desperate for a big challenge without putting himself at a stupid physical disadvantage. I want to see him fight Tank/Berchelt, I don't see anymore than 5 fights max left in Loma IMO. I think he's losing a bit of interest. Legend in my eyes, skills are exceptional.
Definitely mate. Weirdly, I think he’s that good that he’s not even developed any kind of legacy defining rivalry. His success is obviously his legacy that makes him an ATG but you can’t attach a fighter to him who can remotely challenge him. Think of some ATG’s you can affiliate them with other fighters, for example Ali- Liston, Frazier, Foreman...Leonard- Hagler, Hearns, Duran. Loma has beaten some great fighters...they just lacked much competitiveness.
Just solely because he’s that good. Rigo, Pedraza, Crolla, Campbell and Linares are solid names on anyone’s resumé. Looks like it’s either Pacquiao or Inoue next too. Or one then the other. I don’t know what more he can do.
Exactly! He’s just too good. The idea of Loma vs Inoue gives me a boxing semi on. I can see Inoue continuing to dominate right up to featherweight in the future.
