My money's on Pavlik by KO again... but the question is here for the rest of You guys...

Even if we know that Kelly's got a truly great chin AND a very good ability to recover, not only a head shot can finish a fight, and a great chin is not everything, just as Mr. Oscar De La Hoya.

Pavlik is not a guy who always looks ripped, full on muscle etc. and that's not a problem beacuse his power ain't coming from the muscles... it's speed and body weight and accuracy... but in the meantime even if his body doesn't look soft, it's not hard to see that there aren't much muscle protecting those vulnerable areas... and Kelly's wide open for body shots (as well)...

I don't recall that Pavlik has ever been badly hurt by bodyshots (sculpted physiques don't always mean all that much) and i don't recall Taylor ever really committing to a steady body attack or doing much damage with a bodyshot, so i really don't see a reason to consider this a real possibility.
Ofcourse, anything and everything can happen in a boxing ring, but still i don't see why i should vote yes here.

Well... and don't want to force anyone to vote with a YES or NO... I'm more of curious about the poll results... of course: don't EVER rule out a body KO, and I'm still looking for the first brave one to vote on it!:thumbsup

(Oh my, we already have 3!)

Pat Burns was urging Taylor not to go headhunting against Bernard but also underneath and he had plenty of success with fast flurries of body shots to get Bernard off him. Of course, Pat is not there but Ozell was always a second trainer alongside Burns and Steward. I also recall Taylor to finish some combinations with body shots on Kelly but not as much as Kelly on Taylor - KP was taking a lot of strength from JT's legs by going to the body consistently... Looks can be deceiving and Taylor can't keep his hands down at close quarters - he would have to go to the body after timing Kelly upstairs and to make his arms come down. Taylor can use the uppercut and sharp curved shots inside like he actually said he should have done in that second round pounding. I don't take for granted that Pavlik can take a big shot to the pit of the stomach but I would go consistently upstairs to start with.

Yep. And if it's placed perfectly, you can't get up no matter how tough you are.

Not true, remember the eighth round of Gatti/Ward ? Ward placed a pretty damn near perfect body shot on Gatti and he survived a count. So it doesnt matter how tough you are unless you are Gatti

Of course a fighter can take a lot of body blows, as some of the shots always landing to the body, but if the shot is so perfect, there's no recovery. DLH got in a lot of body shots in the 2 Mosley fights and still didn't went down. Hopkins placed the perfect shot and there was no recovery from that. JLC is another good example. The guy, as a great Mexican warrior was really used to take body blows but Hatton crushed him with one perfect blow.

    Anyways, VOTE GUYS!

I said this in another thread, Taylor has to work that body, and not head hunt. These will be a key to his victory :yep

Yep, but as Taylor will try to land the crisp body shots, those horrifying Pavlik jabs and hooks will come back to him... it's hard to see Taylor setting up the pace, picking his shots and landing to the body constantly when Kelly is attacking without any pause. So if it's a body blow, I'd say it will be like the one Hopkins landed against DLH.

Or Emanuel Augustus (dropped by Ward's money punch in round 9).

I voted "Nope," by the way, because Jermain Taylor isn't a good body puncher. His best punch is the right hand. He doesn't have a good left hook, which means he won't be able to target the liver. So unless he's gonna spin Pavlik around and turn him southpaw then land a perfect straight right hand to the liver like Mayweather did to Sharmba Mitchell, then no...I don't see it happening.

I wondered that too looking at Pavlik's body and watching video of Tayor sparring at the Vegas gym here:

VIDEO - Jermain Taylor Training @ Johnny Tocco Gym, Las Vegas Nevada

    http://www.mightygloves.com/videos/

He has mentioned going to the body to lower Pavlik's hands but by going to the body Taylor will be lowering his hands as well making him vulnerable.

If Taylor hits Pavlik's body at the same time Pavlik is smacking him on the side of the face it will not be to Jermain's advantage.

Of corse if they are throwing at the same time. But I don't see Pavlik COUNTERING a body shot.
