Can't see it happening, he pretty much tried to box of the back foot from round 5-12 last time out and lost every round. Fair enough he had been dropped twice at this point but unlike when Mosley went running Cotto was still getting caught quite a bit.

He can't go forward as that didn't work last time and he was beaten to the punch 9 times out of ten. He was fairly competitive for the first 4 rounds but I can't see him improving his stamina that much at this stage of his career. I like Cotto and I wish him well if he does fight Pacquaio but I really can't see a way where he wins this fight. He just isn't fast or technical enough to take Pacquaio of his game.

In the first 5 rounds in the first and whole of the second fights with Margarito,Cotto showed defensive slickness I never knew he had in him but Pacquaio brings a totally different level of pressure.
This fight should not be happening.

Is this official? What next? Margarito gets the winner?
What an uninspiring snoozefest. Can't these promoters make a good match-up anymore?
Even that Pacquaio-Mayweather stuff that was whispered on the grapevine would be better than this!

why pacquiao doesn't cut off a ring?

Some of Cotto's problems in the first fight was being too flat footed and not knowing how to clinch. manny goes nuts if you stick and move or counter then halt his offense

Cotto has said rumours of this bouts terms being agreed are untrue. He said he will announce his next opponent when ready.

If he got tired against a Marg that was slow, missing punches.... Pac will destroy him

I just don't think Pacquaio's has slid and Cotto improved enough for the outcome to be drastically different.Like I said, there was something about Cotto both times v Margarito that I didn't know he had in his locker.I've always seen him as a predatory-type fighter but he seems to be able to fight on the back foot well against a pressure fighter like Margarito, but Pacquaio's type of pressure is totally different, more in and out while Marg is all come forward.

pacquiao outboxed cotto in their fight. cotto started trying to box, attempted to transition into pressure and failed, and finally reverted back to boxing.

This fight is pointless if Cotto have to come back down to 147. Chances are that is what's going to happen, which is going to take the luster off of this fight. As far as Cotto game plan goes. He would have to do more boxing and less brawling. In there first meeting Cotto looked good when he boxed Pac, when he stopped and try to stand with him, Pac would get the best of the exchange. Cotto was also waiting to throw punches while in the inside when he should of been throwing them or getting out of there. Hopefully he could pull off the upset this second time around, but if he have to drop back down to 147lbs, I don't see him winning.

Well that's how he "restarts". He doesn't necessarily roll his shoulder to catch a punch, but shells up before regaining his footing.

He should great reaction time in the first 4 rounds of the Pacquiao fight, as well as the Mosley & Margarito fights.

Cotto started boxing, and won the first round going away.... then he switched to pressure and got broken, he didnt then revert to boxing he reverted to retreating....

If cotto came in a second fight boxing like he should... cicrling (not reatreating, circling) and using his jab (like he did in the first round) he would do well for the first 5 rounds or so.

However, Cotto simply doesnt have the stamina (IMO) to beat Pac....

He can fight as well as he wants for the first 6 rounds, hell he could knock pac down and win every round...

Pac will close on him in the second half and either stop him again or win a close decision.

Cotto doesnt have the stamina, grit (this is not a knock on cotto im obviously a fan of his and would be rooting for him to win but its just reality as I see it, he doesnt have the grit to beat pac) nor the chin to.

    Just imo

Cotto's best bet would be to put manny into clinches to conserve his own energy while banging away on manny's body to sap stamina.

The hardest part for Cotto is getting manny into those clinches.

I think Pac may come in unmotivated for this fight, and Cotto has a good chance for the upset if he can stay discplined and committed to boxing for 12 and doesn't run out of gas. Pac showed little killer instinct in his last two fights where no-one gave his opponents a chance. How is he going to take too seriously a fight with a guy he already knocked out? Add to that the extra weight Cotto will have on him, if it's 154 which I hope it is, and Cotto's recent good boxing form, especially on the backfoot vs Margarito, and it won't be as easy as it was for Pac in the 2009 fight.

For Cotto, this fight is his legacy on the line and chance to propel himself into legendary status. He will come in 100% focused and for sure with a better gameplan and better prepared. The experience of the first fight will help him formulate the tactical fight he will need to fight, and he has the ability to carry it out. Speed and Manny's combination attacks could be his major problem, but Pac has not been as relentless as he was with it since the latter stages of the Margarito fight. Marquez also showed you can use his aggression against him with timing and good footwork.

I look forward to this fight if the Mayweather fight cannot be made. Always felt Cotto didn't do himself justice the first time round.

I was hoping to see a little more out of Cotto his last fight. Stewart went on about how he was fighting one handed because of his shoulder injury. Manny also said he could help Cotto make adjustments to compensate for Pac's speed advantage. If Stewart trains him AND the fight is at 154 I might think this was a different fight.
