Can anyone think of any intances of fighters that have been able to pick apart their opponents and dominate a division, but then just couldn't cut it against rougher, bigger fighters in the next division? Broner being the only one that comes to mind. As an Australian, I have seen our fighters every couple of years go over seas to fight for world titles and every single time they come up short. They simply get out boxed by the fighters overseas. I'm trying to find some history to convince me that Horn isn't just going to get worked by the quicker more versatile fighter.
Plot twist: History means nothing because Horn is a once in a generational fighter and will retire in 3 years; 25-0 lol
Roman Gonzalez, Adrien Broner and even recently Mikey Garcia moving up to 140 has been less effective.
Mikey is undefeated.. he may be less 'effective' but he's yet to lose. Can't really put him in that catagory.
His skills will see him good, he is badly underrated for his boxing IQ and skills. He took shots and looked open at 140 because he knew he had the beating of them and went all in. I think he'll use his ring IQ a lot more at 147, not against Horn because he'll get rid of him before the distance lol but everyone else
Yeah he definitely has a great boxing IQ. We'll see how good of a chin he has against Horn though. Gamboa flushed him, can see Horn doing a bit of the same.
