All the Calzaghe and Calzaghe v RJJ squabbling is boring everyone to death now. I should know.

Time for a really good poll and debate to get us back talking about something else for a while.

    H2H...

MIKE TYSON 1987-8 (The Tyson of the Pinklon Thomas & M.Spinks fights)

    v

LENNOX LEWIS 2000 (The Lewis of the Grant, Tua, Botha fights)

    Who would win and why???

(this is only my own perception of both guys' peaks, if you disagree then say when you think their peaks were and say why)

Mike Tyson would NEVER beat Lennox or Evander. And I am not so sure why people reference the Spinks fight so much. Lennox and Evander are both way better than Spinks ever was. Another thing I laugh at is the Tyson nuthuggers saying he was not in his "Prime" just because he lost to Douglas. The guy was like 25 years old for christ sakes!

Mike's best wins are an old and inactive Holmes or a Light Heavyweight in Spinks.

Compare that to Lennox and Evander's best wins. There is no comparison. None.

Then it's a good job we are not comparing resumes then, isn't it? Do you know what h2h means??

Anyway, I didn't mention Spinks because I thought it was a timeless victory, it was just the last win he had before he fought Bruno, and the Bruno fight was the first time Mike looked sloppy IMO, therefore I didn't include it in my perception of his "peak" year.

Tyson was a phenom, but the first time he unravelled, and this during his prime, was against an opponent with an excellent jab.

the spinks fight is a big one cos anyone who's old enough will remember how heavily thought of and favoured spinks was . he was meant to show the young upstart a lesson but instead tyson not only brutally koed him, he humiliated him and looked like an inhuman monster in the process. its easy to re-write history but i remember, back then tyson was talked of in hushed tnes as the true heir to the glory days of ali ,joe louis and the others. i didnt forget.
i'm a huge fan of lewis and am admittedly biased for my countries fighters, i just know what tyson at his peak was like and how good he was.

My first sentence in my response to you said I thought Mike would NEVER beat Lennox or Evander. I put in the resume because compared to Lennox or Evander Mike's is a joke.

Even as a huge Lewis fan, I could not tell.

Prime Mike was just that kind of beast.

Holmes had an excellent jab, that didn't stop Tyson. Douglas was just destined to beat Tyson that night and you know it too.

I think Tyson would've neutralized Lennox's jab by bobbing and weaving his head while coming in. Prime Tyson had incredible foot speed. This wasn't even a shade of the guy who fought Lewis at 36. Not even close. The incredible menace, hand speed, foot speed, and POWER of Tyson makes Lewis another chump on his resume IMO.
