at his best, tyson had a good shot at knocking out lewis and holy. as far as talent, tyson has more then the both of them but it was his technique that got him beat by holy and by the time lewis got to him, he was finished.

Tyson catches Lewis eventually, more often than not. Lewis had a solid chin but it wasn't granite and his recovery skills left some to be desired. No one dominates a prime Tyson and Lewis would have to open up to try to take him out and would get caught.

Lewis is a big step above the other giants Tyson fought such as Tucker, Biggs etc. Tyson eventually knocks him out in my view but it wouldn't be easy. Lewis didn't have the motion and speed to avoid him.

Lennox is much tougher then a lot of people want to give him credit. And he is a much bigger specimen then Iron Mike.

    Who wins in this fight?

I tell you who, the fans.:bbb:hi:

If Tyson could offset Lennoxs balance, which sometimes Lennox was almost tripping on his own feet sometimes, then thats how I envision Mike striking. Otherwise Lennox just drills him, keeps him at range, beats him up.

i'd give a prime mike the first 4-5 rounds with a susained body attack and having lennox on the ropes, where his jab would be useless. lennox did have a beauty of an uppercut, but so did mike. if a prime mike knew if was urgent for him to win within 5, sidestep, make lewis miss an uppercut, and bam throw that fight saving right hand and follow up with hooks as lewis is crumbling, he'd make it a short night. if it was in the center of the ring, it's lewis's jab all day

I see your point, but I disagree. The Rahman shot only proved 1 thing - that Lewis was complacent that night. Had Rahman landed that shot on Tyson's chin, Tyson would've been out too. 250lbs man, huge swing, there's only 1 outcome. The video proves Lewis got hit with big shots many many more times and stayed up than went down.

You said glass jaw - you're wrong.

    Amir Khan?

And what you're saying there eliminates the standard of the opposition. Lewis was taking punches from Klitschko, Tua, Mavrovic, etc etc. A montage of shots from them means something, they're not feather-fisted journeymen.

I voted Lexis late KO/TKO but to be honest it could just as easily be a points victory. I think this happens bout 7/8 times out of 10 as always a chance Mike could catch him early and if he does I don't see him letting Lewis off the hook, but I just think Lewis's saftey first approach would frustrate tyson til he over-reaches and gets caught.

Prime Lewis when focused was a machine, his only losses and near loss (Klit) came when he underestimeted his opponent and/or came in heavy.

I also think that the lewis right uppercut would be an effective weapon when mike is bobbing and weaving trying to get in close.

****, this is REALLY hard to pick.

Prime Tyson, I just would not bet against the guy landing at some point...

He was a superb fighter back then, superb. Such speed, accuracy, amazing going forward..Mike simply WOULD not, COULD not be shut out like Tua was on his best night...However if anybody could have done it, it would have been Lennox.

Really hard to pick. In some ways both hold stylistic advantages, Tyson the fast, concussive puncher who can find Lewis' chin and spark him, Lewis the tall, highly skilled boxer puncher who can keep him at bay and get the UD or late KO.

I'll say Tyson, but Lewis would win at least 3-4 out of every 10.

I just checked boxrec, Lennox is taller so therefore he wins.

This is prime vs prime we are talking about. Throw the actual Lewis-Tyson fight out the window. We cannot draw any conclusions from that bout, none whatsoever.

At his peak, Tyson would outjab guys who had a far longer reach than he did. I remember Tyson once saying jabbing is all about timing, nothing to with the length of your arm or how tall you are. Tyson would have landed plenty of jabs against Lewis. Saying Tyson would have had trouble with Lewis' jab is not valid a great deal.

Whoever wins, I don't see the fight lasting long. Tyson would be aggressive as hell, ferocious, try to take Lennox out asap. LEWIS would have to fight fire with fire & stand his ground, not just paw out with the jaw & try to move out of the way. Lewis big right hand is a major threat, if that was to land cleanly, then it could be goodnight for Tyson, even if he did have a solid chin!

However, I just think Tyson adavantage in handspeed, footspeed, would ahve been a big factor. Lewis would be surprised by Tyson defensive abilities, head movement, shifting from position to position. Tyson would too ferocious in my view. I think he would overwhelm Lennox.

Lewis would have to soak up a big body attack because a prime Tyson never neglected going to the body.

Stylewise, Lennox has the tools to beat a fighter LIKE Tyson (aggressive, strong etc.).
I'd favour Lewis (not necessarily prime) over Tyson on any era BESIDES Mike's absolute peak. Tyson at his absolute best could take out Lennox. And I'm a big fan of Lennox.
So I'll pick Tyson by KO/TKO, even though Lewis could be capable of winning too.
But imagine those two fighting each other in their primes.
Oh man what a fight THAT would be.

tyson was a master of the peekaboo style but the perfect counter for that is an excelent jab. and lewis had a formidable jab. and being a lot taller than tyson too. i just cant see tyson getting close enouth to land anything significant. i have lewis winning 8 times out of 10 with the 2 losses sucker punches. why do you think they only fought when tyson realy needed the money. i dont think lewis was doing the running.
