Can the 'Mag 7' STILL be a success at the PPV?

Simply No.

I cannot see this now grabbing the general public's attention. It was a hard ask before hand with all 7 bouts but now it's looking lightweight for a PPV. There's no real grudge matches. No bad taste. No interesting side stories to any of fights that would capture a casual fans attention. It still a decent bill but £15 to a casual fan...there mostly gonna say no.

I just hope the fights that are on are fantastic battles.

 

i'd of thought that barker - macklin would have been the most expensive fight to make, and now that and the rhodes fight has gone, does this show necessarily have to be ppv to cover the cost of the lineup?

there hasn't really been much (if any?) build up on sky either so perhaps they will reconsider it being ppv....because i really can't see sky selling many ppvs for this show.

 

It wouldn't have anyway. It was just exploitation of the boxing fan - again. A pretty **** show as far as PPV goes. Stick Collins-Benn or Hamed in the main event and you would have had a normal sat night show from the late 90's, early 00's.

Barker Macklin was a excellent domestic fight- not much else - on a par with say Neville Brown Vs Glenn Catley back in the day.

Jennings-Brook- a supposed passing of the torch match. The pick of the show for me, but little more intriguing then Rhodes-Jones from the late 90's.

The rest of the card really just made up of good fighters against largely unknown but rated opposition. They have no relevance to me and I'm a fairly interested boxing fan.

 

PPV should only be for the real big events, not for a couple of big domestic/European showdowns. I had no idea this was PPV and if im honest i feel let down.

 

They take the ****. Have done for years.

 

So are they adding the golden boy card in the package also?

I thought the very least to qualify for PPV you would have to have a very well known boxer regardless of how average the card may be, the boxers on this card have the potental to be well known but casual fans dont know that and wont pay £15 to watch guys they dont know. If i was a casual fan (which i most likely am, ive never stepped into a ring and cant say my knowledge is brilliant but im an avid watcher) im more likely to pay for Harrison vs Haye, not because it offers better value for money but because i would recognise the names, it dont mean **** if you have a collection of close fights if you charge £15 to a casual fan who doesnt know a fighter on the card.

 

time for frank to put this on ss1 otherwise its gonna flop

It actually makes me laugh how bad they are with regards to the paying public. It is incredibly lucky they can throw huge amounts of money at promotions because in terms of customer satisfaction- I feel let down very often.

Bad thing is, and promoters know this, boxing fans love their sport and will pay to view it nearly every opportunity they have.
