Shrug off, eat Cro Kick and Anderson style knee's? :think I'd really hate to see Toney KO'd when he starts feeling bone against bone. I hope to see that his chin is just as strong as it was when he was eating punches with 10 and 12oz boxing gloves on.
in a word, no.... not many people can stand to many knees to the face, especially not off someone like anderson see the dan henderson fight, hes got a chin of granit, but as soon as anderson got him in the clinch it was game over knees delvered to the nose off someone like anderson.... watch the rich franklin fight first one) to see the full extent of their damage when you arent good in the clinch!
Probablly not its something hes never felt. Everyone knows a well placed headkick and clinch knee to the head is most often more powerful then a punch. Im interested in seeing how he handles the legkicks.
i hope so but remember ray mercer - remy bonjasky he took 1 kick to the head after 10 seconds and it was over
Toney is actually a dangerous inside fighter.. I don't think Anderson would try knees, likely try to take him down and sub him. Getting inside on Toney wouldn't be smart for anybody. Just gives him opportunity to be dangerous at a range where he made his career professionally.
Anderson has a lot of pride in his muy thai. I think he could beat Toney standing quite easily. I see Toney not being able to deal with the full arsenal of kicks, punches, knees and elbows that Anderson brings to the table. Punching only, especially if you are much shorter with short arms, is too limited. Also, the fact that Toney is shorter will make him more vulnerable to devastating knees in the clinch. No matter how good of an inside boxer Toney is he isn't a clinch fighter by any stretch of the imaginating. Dirty boxing and a thai plum aren't the same and he could struggle in that area. It's much easier to throw good short punches on the inside when your opponent isn't allowed to tie your arms up without the referee breaking it up.
There is a huge difference between the clinch in boxing and in Muay Thai. Toney cannot use his boxing inside game when in the clinch with a much taller Thai fighter. If he clinches with somebody like Anderson, he would end up in the plum in which case the fact ANderson has 5" in height would mean Toney would get DESTROYED by knees. Anderson would batter Toney standing up make no mistake. Even on the outside the leg kicks would render Toney stationary.
toney can't be fighting someone like that straight off can he? i say put him in with kimbo for his first fight.
