Im starting to think Trout has a good shot, he is a very sound boxer and really he has never been outclassed except the Lara fight. Styles make fights and whilst I would pick, Jermell against Hurd and Munguia, I think technical fighters like Lara and a Trout with solid chins will give Jermell a lot of problems
This. The last fight Trout looked good in was against Lara. Against Jermall his timing and handspeed was almost nonexistent and in the Hurd fight he was completely shot and doesn't seem to be able to take punches anymore. I don't see him making it to the 7th round.
I thought Trout beat Jermall. And Trout looked pretty damn good vs Hurd before the pressure got to him. Most had Trout ahead before the stoppage. But Trout seems to be on the slide.
Who are the top fighters they avoided? Considering Lara was in the same camp as them when he was champ?
As someone who's been very high on Trout he's about 4 years past his best now. I think his showing against big twin was his last real hurrah as I still go back and forth between who I think won that fight but it was close. The Hurd fight, Trout looked good early but blew his load and was worn down against a bigger, stronger animal. For the third fight in a row, he is again fighting a bigger, stronger animal (and this time the animal is quicker too). I think Trout loses this one. His durability now has to be questioned.
Up to him to upset the odds. I think he would have had a better chance of beating Hurd if he stayed active, now he is active I dont see why he cant beat Charlo. He has the skills, he was worn down by hurd rather than laid out so he has the chin so why cant he win?
I cant disagree with what your saying but I cant see trout getting knocked out, we saw that Hurd is a beast at wearing fighters down an Trout was coming off a 18 month lay off and he was still beating Hurd until started gassing.
I think it depends much more on Trout than it does Charlo. Unless Trout has really slipped he at least makes this a competitive fight in which he has some good moments. We've seen what he can do against fighters of Jermell's quality, but we have also seen a noticeable decline in his stamina and reflexes. My gut tells me that Trout will be beaten soundly since I believe he has reached his peak and declined to the point where he won't be able to compete with the top guys of the division. Of the choices in the poll, I will select maybe, not because I think it will be a close fight, but because Trout has proven me wrong before and I'd gladly applaud him should he do it again.
Lubin and Hatley were made to order for Ironman, but Trout is capable of giving Charlo more looks and doing more things in general than any of the past three guys that Jermell has faced. Charlo still probably has the talent to win, but I don't think this will be anywhere close to a blowout on the cards, and could wind up being a similar fight to the one waged against Charlo's twin brother back in 2016.
What are you basing that on? Trout lasting 10 rounds against a massive Light Heavyweight that he managed to completely dominate even more impressively than Lara for the first 7 rounds, while setting a breakneck pace after a near year and a half off, until that layoff finally caught up to him late. That doesn't sound like washed up to me. If he can go 12 with Jermall and arguably beat him, and win 6 or 7 rounds off of Hurd before succumbing to his incessant pressure, then he can easily go 12 with a guy who fights nothing like Hurd and doesn't hit anywhere close to as his brother. Yeah, Austin can upset the apple cart here.
