OK - we all know he is 37 years old.
The power still seems to be there. Most of the speed too.

We know he is fighting Barrett in July and most pick a ready KO from Tua in that fight. So he is working his way back up into "Top 30" fights - and should be fighting "Top 5"s by the end of this year. That is the plan, it seems.

Here is the question. Can he win a belt? Could he take Haye? Could he catch Wlad with a hook?

And is there any better contender out there right now to try it?

He can if you put the thread title in all capitals except for "a" and use two question marks instead of one.

Im gonna say no.... just my opinion. I dont think he closes the gap fast enough to beat Haye, (no... i dont even think he closes the gap better then ruiz at that point) and thats something you have to do against haye if your going to beat him.

Wlad would jab his head off, and Vitali would outbox him.

Doest mean i wouldnt like seeing these fights, id love to see them.

If tua can ever get it together after this contract is up... there are NUMEROUS fights out there that give boxing fans reasons to be excited.

Tua vs Haye - 'all it takes is one punch' 'haye is hittable' 'Could Haye hurt Tua?'
Tua vs Wlad - 'all it takes is one punch... again lol' 'Could wlad hurt Tua'?
Tua vs Arreola - Two guys going right at eachother..... would love to see this fight. I favor tua if hes in the condition, but you never know with arreolas heart. But weve seen tua (albiet in his prime) in a dogfight with better fighters then arreola before. still, a great fight... would love to see it.
Tua vs Peter - why not... lol. Again, Tua going up against one of the newer 'big hitters' and maybe he can show peter how its done. Or maybe he gets upstaged by the seemingly motivated peter.... intreaguing fight if both come in shape. would love to see it.

Those are the type of fights that bring excitement to boxing..... personally i think Tua is a worthy challenger, but i dont think he is champion material. However, he is a very very good fighter and an always dangerous opponent.

but i have my doubts we will ever see any of these fights :-(

Lets be real here, unless Tua get matched up perfect against a paper champion down the line, he just was never made of Championship mettle.

I think he'd have a great chance to take Holyfield's title and a decent chance at taking out Haye.

Does he have any chance of clipping Wlad with a stray hook?

Who today makes a better prospect vs. Wlad? Chagaev perhaps?

Chagaev didn't stand much of a chance already. He was completely shutout actually. He's not really a prospect for Wlad.

    So who?

    Does Wlad now fight no-one?

    If not Tua, then who?

Povetkin is his mandatory, Peter is after that for another go around. Haye supposedly at some point in time will fight him. Adamek supposedly at some point in time will want to fight Grant, another opponent and then a Klitschko. I don't know if any of these guys will bother with David. He's not fighting top guys, he's 37, he's a big risk with pretty much no reward...What can I say? Fight a gigantic power puncher who isn't even proven relevant in the division for years who will probably take you the distance, for 12 rounds of one-shot risk when no one will give you credit for beating him? Nah, I don't think Tua gets another shot against either of the three titlists.

Edit:...Well...unless he manages to become the WBO, IBF, WBC or WBA mando...

I think Tua is a big money fight against one of these guys if he
just wins a couple more bouts. Many of those other fights are dull as death

Can't argue about the dullness but the last time David fought someone relevant in the division was seven years ago to a draw and he's slated to fight yet another irrelevant guy...It's not heating up his marketability, imo.
