Tua is ranked #2 by the WBO. Povetkin #1. Wlad is the champ. Povetkin is ranked #1 by the IBF. Wlad is the champ. Povetkin demanded a drug test from Wlad before he would get in the ring with him. Wlad said no. IBF says, if not Povetkin, then the next in line (Peter). Why not put Peter vs Tua together in December for the right to face Wlad in March, 2011? That way, he gets rid of two contenders (if he wins) cause Povetkin and Haye aren't going to fight him.

Peter - Povetkin is a better match

Tua is irrelevant, never made it all the way, never will. How many times do Tua fans need to be told?

If Oleg ****ing Maskaev can come back and grab a belt at an advance age, then David Tua certainly can.

It rankles with me that Tua and/or his management ****ed up his career. He deserved far more than 1 shot against Lewis (when he came in fat), when you consider some of the serial challengers that have been around the joint.

How many shots did Ruiz get?
    Jameel McCline FFS.
    etc.

Rahman. Got a shot recently AGAIN. Seems to get himself numerous title shots by going on a bum of the month tour.

Shannon Briggs. If Briggs can get a title, Tua can win one up the age of 50. Problem is, that belt is now in Wlads hands, so that's 1 less paper belt to go around.

It is only a matter of time until Tua balloons to 350 again.

Then he will make another comeback.

    Then he will balloon.

Then he will make another comeback.

    And on.

It has been like this since the Big bang! What makes anyone think it will change now?

Tua could win a belt. All he has to do is fight David Haye. I, however, suspect that Haye is not eager to get in the ring with him. So Tua chance are going down since Haye will not fight him.

Once Tua has got his Maori TV contract out of the way, then he can start fighting the likes of Peter, Arreola, etc over in America. He seems very focused and determined this time around, and in interviews he seems very collected with a very clear and confident desire.

In his last fights he's looked ok, and his weight is dropping. If he's managed right and the pieces fall together, he pound his way through people like Peter and Arreola, and wangle a title shot. In fact, if he plays things right he could stick about for a while and end up getting a shot at both Klits and Haye (unlikely but he could manage it in a few well chosen fights).

I reckon he'll end up with a title shot down the line; i just can't see the competition standing up to him and he'll end up as a mando for one belt at least.

TU - I agree and the current TV contract has held up things a bit.

Tua - Arreola and so-on would be huge.

Yeah Maskaev picked up a belt because a lousy Rahman was holding it, and Maskaev just had his number again. Tua doesn't have some weak title holder out there to go up against.

As for the rest of your comment, with the exception of Maskaev....I have two words for you. Don King. Enough said.

A fat guy with a smalltime promoter that can't make fights and signs crappy tv contracts is not a good combo.

    Yes - the Promoter situation

But in 2 fights they can fight in New Zealand for decent purses - and this looks likely

He can win a belt. But based on his actions he hasn't shown any indication of wanting to fight for one. It will be amazing if he does get one given how hard he is working not to achieve it. He is basically masochistic. Look at his deliberate opponent selection in his currrent comeback. The guy is a victim.

Jeez already ranked #2 for WBO. I'd like to see Tua back in the mix, but I would just rather he have to fight at least a top 20 or so guy first. He'll prolly never "be ready" for Wlad, but would think at least a decent fight or two would help see really where he is at. Sadly for Barrett, he is no longer even a B-/C+ level guy cuz of his now clearly evident non existent punch resistence.
