get him a fight with haye and booth will throw the towel in the first to protect haye from brain damage
Let's break this down even more. Say he beats Barrett and a Barrett look-a-like to fulfill his MTV contract, his next fight will be an eliminator against a Peter, Arreola type fighter. Do you think he can beat them? If so, he fights for the title.
Would love to see Tua vs Arreola. Think Tua would end up knocking him out but it would be a good battle!
What has he done to fight Wlad today? puhlease, tua is no where on the HW radar. And its his fault for being so inactive and fighting a bunch of no bodies in his so called comeback. If no one ranks him evem in the top 30 right now, what makes you think he can even get a title shot?
Iz, he's ranked #2 by the WBO and #15 or so by the IBF. He's fought twice in the last 6 months, and has another fight scheduled next month.
And Barrett is the 2nd of 3 fights on MTV. Why risk a tuff fight now? Once he finishes his 3rd fight on MTV with a Barrett look-a-like, he'll fight a Peter or Arreola. Or go straight to a Klit if Klit is looking for an opponent.
Shane Cameron is still ranked higher than Monte on boxrec. Tua seems to be fighting his way down the list. Next stop fighting Chauncy Welliver and Daniel Tai for local bragging rights. After that he can work his way from bar to bar on saturday nights fighting for cab fare. I have no doubt if he stays active that he will get his shot. It's just a pathetic way of going about it. Actually I didn't think he would have another fight after Ahunanya. So in terms of respect as a boxer I give him no credit for fighting Monte. But on a personal level, good one Dave!! It's a big step for him not going back to burger king lunches and no training.
BigBopper. If he fights a top ten guy after his MTV contract is over, will you be convinced that he's not pathetic?
I didn't say he was pathetic, I said he has been going about things in a pathetic fashion. I have no problem supporting him against any half decent opposition. When and if that happens. He should NOT be fighting Barrett. It's all the pissing around that has been, and continues to be the problem. Also this crap about the Maori TV contract etc. is bull****. He doen't have the wit to see through the smoke and mirrors of its legitimacy. It's not worth the paper it is printed on. The only thing that lets it stand up and give it any meaning is David's wilingness to honour it. Otherwise it would cease to be an issue. Tua has been terribly advised since leaving Duva but the blame must surely be laid at his feet now. There can't be any excuses that things were out of his control. He has squandered too much time and opportunity already. This is his last grasp at the tail end of a boxing career, and so far he has played far from a sold hand. It almost looks like he doesn't want it at all. Fight someone half decent is all I am saying. Stop playing games and man up.
