It was all about mental focus and motivation in particular. Once you lose that edge, you're fuked. Sure Tyson is shot, but it was his mind that failed first. Just look at how his physique started to decline, looking softer and softer, and he got worse and worse.

 

I think it would be possible.........with heavy use of anabolics & HGH. Look at that picture of him though, it would take him a year to get back into fighting shape.

And I've seen David Haye mentioned a few times in this thread. While a Haye fan, I seriously question his ability to compete effectively at HW. However, IF...and it's a huge 'if'...he defeats Valuev, especially by stoppage, I don't see why anyone would think Tyson could wobble out of retirement and beat him.

It would be a travesty of a bout. If Haye proves himself a decent HW by defeating Valuev, then a Tyson 'fight' would result in a first round KO win for Haye. Seriously.

Even in the descent of his career he at least maintained his physical presence but not his heart, focus and mind. Now he has neither. . .

What do Foreman and Homes have in common with Tyson? Neither had been beaten up badly in their first careers. Tyson took enormous punishment from Holyfield and Lewis. His spirit was broken in those fights as well. Foreman lost to Ali when Ali had every conceivable advantage and Holmes lost to Spinks and should have won the rematch. They had every reason to still believe in themselves. Tyson has zero reason to believe he can make a comeback.

Besides, Tyson's style is one of a fighter with a short, blazing career, like Dempsey or Frazier. The difference between Tyson as a menacing KO machine and an ordinarly fighter is small, because one he lost a tad of his speed and movement, he couldn't adapt. His height gives him one way to fight successfully and it depends on attributes that go early.
