I know he hasn't had his toughest tests yet. But Leo Santa Cruz looks more like a bank teller than a tough guy.
Gonna throw out the obvious one here JG; Ali was a self proclaimed pretty boy but he showed as much grit as anyone ever to lace 'em up.
I don't think you can. Boxing history is littered with tough gritty fighters that had matinee idol looks that were as tough as they come. And there's been many fierce, scary looking prospects that totally caved when the going got tough. Pretty boy and Sugar and Baby face are common nicknames for a reason.
When i first saw Ali (he was still Clay) running his mouth a-mile-a-minute (always with his Olympic medal on) training at Angelo Dundee's 5th St. Gym in Miami, EC. He looked to be one more enfant terrible who'd go down in flames with the first good pro he faced. He flicked his jab, moved his head straight back from every right, and wanted no part of fighting inside, or mixing-it-up at all. Spent most of his time with Willie Pastrano, his partner in crime, pulling pranks 'n chasing tail on the way the beach.
most of the time. its more of how they look under certain situations. if youre around these situations often, you start to pick up a feel for identifying real tough guys. war and prison are 2 places you can hone that radar. it has little to do with physical features.
GGG isnt your typical tough guy, hes very soft spoken and never talks bad about anyone but he's one of the hardest punchers p4p
I know what you mean. My school was full of crazy dudes, some people joined the mafia later. I just developed a sense who to **** with and who is really dangerous. And it is not about the build there were some skinny kids that will mess you up in a second.
i would say, not always but what's obvious is that when a fighter is/looks relaxed, he's not anxious or scared.
Tyson, Margarito, Rigo looks dangerous, Tua, Toney, Holyfield and maybe out there are lots of fighters that look intimidating and tough but right now I don't remember all of them.
