Tonight was my second time watching Solis fight.
He is a very good boxer who picks his shots very well. I don't know how well he does against movers like Calderon. Since they are the two top guys in the division, its only natural that they will face each other very soon. Solis is flying to China in December to fight Brian Viloria so thats another opportunity to see him showcase his skills.

Does he have the tools to beat Calderon?:think

Ivan is boring to watch. Very overated. Got great skills and defense but have an awful offense.

I have seen 3-4 Archie fights and i like what i see. The guy can bang and has decent enough skills.

Pound for pound Calderon is better but you have to take into consideration that Calderon, even when fighting at straw weight, is nearly always smaller than his opponent. Calderons lack of pop and his advancing age also doesn't go in his favour.

Archie is a more rounded fighter than Cazares in my eyes and will give Calderon a much sterner test however at the minute i will slightly lean towards Calderon. Im going to wait to see how Archie fares against Villoria and try and see if i can find anymore of his fights online before i make a final prediction.

4Rounder, what was the other Archie fight you saw? If you havn't seen the Mayol fight i suggest you do. Very decent, exciting fight if i remember rightly.

if pacquiao was tagged the mexican-assasin, solis is tagged as the filipino-assasin. 3 of his last 4 fights were against pinoy fighters and he beat them all. the most dramatic was against rodel mayol who was outboxing him and winning the round then an emphatic combination that stopped mayol on its track. a viloria fight would be another tough test if he would continue his dominance over the asian fighters.

about a solis-calderon match up, i expect solis to beat calderon due to size difference and solis' power and determination. calderon would as usual outbox and outslick solis for most part but eventually would be caught and this time would not have the luxury of running or holding just like what he did to cezares.

Yea, cazares was a light flyweight brawler, hence why calderon completely outboxed him. Solis can box, so i clearly dont see calderon winning.
