Can Usyk stand up to Gassiev's artillery the way Dorticos did?

Odds are clearly in favor of Usyk (-250) vs Gassiev, both being similar in size, but are people really assuming for a second he could hold off the bombs Dorticos did ?

I personally don't see many cruiserweights standing to that kind of burst/sudden barrage; everything Gassiev touches, he destroys; Usyk doesn't have the chin or resilience of Dorticos, or even his firepower; once he starts getting touched i believe his pitty-pat amateur-like game will disintegrate.

This is Gassiev's fight to lose.

He won't have to. When Oleksandr Levesta Usyk doesn't want to be touched, he ain't gettin' touched.:deal:

Usyk is gunna school Gassiev. I rate Gassiev but styles make fight and whereas I thought Gassiev would beat Dorticos, I actually think Dorticos’ style would be tougher for Usyk.

He won't have to. He won't be motoring forward looking for one-twos with little variety. Instead he'll be inviting Gassiev to take the initiative and try counter from there, the roles will be reversed from what we saw last night.

The big question for me is can Gassiev invest enough into the body to slow Usyk down. Usyk's biggest strengths are his movement and stamina, Gassiev's biggest asset is his relentless body work, which he can use to drain the energy from Usyk's legs. Whomever wins that mini battle wins the fight.

Don't hope for Usyk that when he gets touched, he stays touched, like RJJ.

Gassiev is patient and he has sneaky delivery. He knows how change speed on his punches and his accuracy is very good and has ridiculous punch placement.

Usyk is a very hittable guy. It will be another case landing more punches while the other guy is landing the more significant-better shots.

Usyk has a great chin. I’ve never seen him hurt and he sometimes soars with super heavyweights.

    Bravo for this division.

This really is one of the best fights that can be made in boxing right now. Lucky for us fans this fight is actually happening next with no BS.

Usyk is cocky and understands the entertainment value of the sport just like Loma, if he thinks he can take your power, a la the Marriaga match, he'll walk through your best shots, put on a show and beat your ass down, but if he thinks you can possibly hurt him, a la Walters and Rigo, he goes hyper conservative, and hyper defensive, he's kinda versatile like that.:deal: Its a pity so many supposedly real boxing fans only see what they want to see when they want to see it with him and Loma. Yes, sometimes supremely talented boxers take risks to entertain, not everyone has the mindset of Mayweather Jr. Hell even Floyd succumbed to that temptation against McGregor.

Usyk got knocked down few times as an amateur but those were from body shots. I believe Beterbiev knocked him down, and Medzhidov also but the latter was a low blow.

Hopefully Usyk doesn't have to find out. We all know Usyk has a good chin but if he eats the kind of shots consistently like Dorticos did then even his chin might come undone, he's only human.

Gassiev has short arms and reach. Dorticos made it easy for him for slight lack of engine and by standing in front of him.
Usyik was in the audience, I'm sure he picked this up.
We will have to see in May but it's more up to Usyik to make it easy or hard for him to win.
It's a pity that one had to lose, both are great guys.

Why would Uzyk stand in front of Gassiev and let him tee off on him in the first place?

Gassiev will be the one moving forward, and his punches will have thus a bigger impact.

Against Dorticos, he could only do it for the latter part of the fight.
