Wilder's only way to win this fight, whenever it happens, is by (T)KO. He drops too many rounds in his fight style; its not what he goes for against tough comp, he's cautious and looking for the home run, and lets the opponent score more. Plus AJ is just the better, more technical boxer. Plus AJ will probably have much more friendly judges on his side. I can't see Wilder winning a decision unless he scores multiple kd's against AJ in a couple different rounds, and AJ somehow survives. That's just not likely. Wilder's team should focus on getting a ref they approve of and cede judges to Hearn in negotiations. Their best shot at a win is stopping AJ, so they may as well go all in on this strategy. Would hate to see a British stoppage if Wilder gets in trouble like in round 7 against Ortiz, so if they can guard against that, they will give their fighter the best chance at victory.
Yes i agree overall. However, many ways to go all in for a knock out, rather than just coming out swinging full force so this will be interesting. Lets not forget Wilder carries his power late so its not as if his only option for a knock out is early, but yeah i agree with you about thinking AJ would have a better chance at a UD then Wilder would.
Joshua will knock Wilder out, Joshua has the skills, hit harder, hits hard will both hands, his punches are shorter, no, Wilder is not in Joshua' s class at all...................he only has a puncher's chance. Fury would toy with Wilder.............
Agree in principle although I do think he sometimes 'lets the opponent score more' simply because he knows his limitations as a boxer, which I guess is kind of smart. As for the judges, well they've both had it favorable. The scoring in the Ortiz fight suggests Hearn is going to be against it going to the distance and the same with the Wlad fight. If it's in the UK and a repeat of round 7 against Ortiz happens with AJ then you're absolutely right; I assure you one of our refs will cartwheel between the two of them with a raging hard-on and raise AJ's hand.
Joshua should get him out of there in 5-6 rounds. But hopefully it’s Parker that ends up facing Wilder. Seems like a much better guy overall and it would be cool seeing him get this big unification fight. And Parker wins by wide UD.
I was hoping for "a site ban on all AJ vs Wilder threads until it is officially announced because we are drowning in them already." But yeah it probably ends in (T)KO for one of them.
They both punch hard and they can both be hurt. Who lands first? Wilder wont make it past 4, AJ starts too quick, Wilder starts too slow.
It is obviously far more likely that AJ will land first and Wilder's "unorthodoxy" will leave him far too vulnerable for AJ's early assault. But I am inclined to believe that if Wlad was able to land his right to floor Joshua once, Wilder can do this too: at the very moment, Wilder carries THE most effective punch and arguably the most destructive power in his right. He has a good eye for openings, he is a better finisher than Wlad was, and if Joshua cannot find a certain way of neutralizing that right hand or if he gets carried away in his offense, there is every chance he will get hit. I would not call Wilder's chance only a puncher's chance - he landed this punch against Molina, Szpilka, Arreola, Washington, Ortiz, and destroyed them all with it. Joshua is in a different league but even Takam found a way to hit him hard. He cannot afford this luxury against Wilder. Extremely interesting fight.
Yep and as an AJ fan it’s worrying with how AJ has gassed last couple fights cos nobody can take the power of Wilder, who is a very good finisher
The gassing is an issue but maybe this is why AJ is looking less bulky, he’s working to build stamina and endurance for this fight and the future fight against Wilder.
