Can we conceivably rate Chisora as a top 5 Heavyweight?

Ok, back to the boxing side of things. Do you consider Derek Chisora to be a top 5 Heavyweight after the weekend? On the face of it, this seems ludicrous as Del Boy has lost 3 of his last 4 fights. But if we delve a little deeper, can an argument be made?

Against Fury, he let himself down. He didn’t fancy the fight and came into the fight in very poor shape. After the second round, he was pretty much non-exsistent in there, losing wide on every card. But against Helenius, he somewhat redeemed himself. The Fin was a massive favourite, and many fancied him to do a serious job on Chisora before knocking him out. Del Boy, however, took his best shots, and, while stunned, managed to return fire. He was on Robbie’s chest for the rest of the fight, outworking the Fin, only to be robbed on the cards after outlanding Helenius 2:1.

Against Vitali, he came up against his toughest foe, and lost a competitive decision on the cards. He wasn’t outclassed like many believed he would be, and he didn’t once look like being stopped by the Klit. I had the fight 116-113 Vitali, with Del Boy winning more rounds against him than anyone i can remember for a long time.

SO, where does he rank along his peers? Outside of the brothers, boxrec have the HW rankings as
    3 Povetkin
    4 Adamek
    5 Fury
    6 Helenius
    7 Thompson
    8 Dimitrenko
    9 Pulev
10 Huck (despite never having a fight north of 200lbs)

    Chisora is down in 15th.

The Ring throw in Arreola, Chambers, Chageav and Boystov.

But apart from the brothers and Povetkin (who is clearly the number 3 for me), has any of these other names beaten anyone as good as Helenius? And would any of them give Vitali as hard a night as Chisora did? Can we feasibly have him anywhere near the top 5 after 3 defeats in 4 fights? If he isn’t in the top 5, who should be above him?

This is a thread about Chisora the boxer, not Chisora the man.

Top 10 is a bit of a stretch to be honest but I think he has a shout of going in at 10 as he did beat Helenius.

I don't get how Marco Huck can have a ranking at heavyweight, never mind a top 10 one. It baffles me.

The problem is the contenders don't have to fight each other to be put on the conveyor belt to the Klitchkos. Pity as there as some interesting fights among them.

He's lost every meaningful fight he's been in. He beat Helenius IMO, but it was hasty to call him top ten. Fury's the sort of guy at the bottom of the top ten and you can't rate Del above him.

In terms of ranking he isn't BUT he clearly beat a top 10 fighter in Helenius and went a competative 12 rounds with the best fighter since Lennow Lewis.

Helenius no matter what anyone thinks of him was being branded as the future HW champion and we all know Del went over there and beat him.
I dont see how Pulev,Dimitrenko and Arreola can be rated ahead of Del tbh.

Yes. Not on paper but on closer analysis beyond looking on boxrec, it seems fair that he's at least top 10. Definitely beat Helenius who was a stone wall top 10, quite comfortably too. Think we all agree on that, can't hold a terrible robbery against him.

Did better than anyone apart from Lewis against Klitschko. Klitschko's been mediocre since his return in my opinion, but he's still the second best out there by a long margin.

What goes against him is the Tyson Fury debacle. That was a horrible performance and I don't rate Tyson even on his best form as a top 10 heavyweight, so I can see why people would say he's not based on this. I think though if we're analyzing this seriously it was clear he was in awful shape compared to his last 2 fights, seemed deflated.

Its hard to rank Chisora in the top 10 as he has lost his last 3.1 was robbery,1 was a loss but a good result and the other was one he should have won.Its a hard one.If he is top 10 he is no.10 for now.
