Virgil Hill's was very good. Jesse Burnett had a good jab, thrown like Bob Foster's from the waist.Welsh Howard Winstone basically built a career based on just the jab.Luis Rodriguez had an excellent left.
Bob Foster- good shout. Willie Pastrano Maurice Cullen Old Stone Face Bennie Briscoe Ken Buchanan Winstone prob the poster boy.
This seems more realistic due to the multiple weight classes etc. to come up with 4 complete fighters
Sensible approach. In usually try a wall but I think I try maintain it too long. How do you play Black?
There's a good reason why Larry relied so much on the jab for his championship reign. I've never seen a more viciously delivered jab in boxing (though Ali had his moments, Hearns too....Liston was pretty astounding as well)). Holmes screwed up his face into a rictus of hate, twisted the punch with utmost nastiness, and was ridiculously accurate with it. I have to give a lot of credit to Liston, no one had the requisite step in with the jab down to a science as much as he did; his jabs were often mind-bogglingly long and freakishly effective. In fact, I'd probably put Liston a bit ahead of Ali and not far from even with Holmes as far as overall jab effectiveness.
I don’t personally use a Queen Pawn opening, but in defending it I am partial to a Nimzo- Indian defence or the occasional underrated Pirc Defence...I seldom open P-Q4 and am not a gambit enthusiast
Prime Ali's jab was so much faster than every other heavyweight before or since it's hard not to pick him
I like to think of myself as a Classical player. I open with Ruy López and go from there. If I am playing Black I may open with g6 and starting looking to Castle ASAP. But I am a bum so it usually doesn’t matter. When it comes to boxing...I see E4 as starting and orthodox jab..and anything other opening as feinting and looking for counters
