A shout for Holman Williams. He has an upjab brought from the waist. Eddie Futch described it as being hit with a backhanded uppercut. Williams was smooth. His skills were such that Joe Louis would bring Williams to his camp even when he didn't have a fight. He would watch him inevitably learn something each time.

Liston or Foreman at HW for me anyways, weapon of there own if you put Sonnnys jab and reach on say Tyson keeping the hand speed and power of Kid dynamite... you have the GOAT if you throw in Frazier’s gas tank.

Going by that, Cotto's jab was lethal, put Clottey himself down.

I agree with the shout but he kind of failed the big test with Mayweather. Mayweather had suffered against Oscar, a bigger man wielding a world-class jab for the first half of that fight, but Cotto's jab wasn't a factor in that fight.

    Did you see that fight?
Cotto did a job on Money with that jab. He just couldn't get over the hump and dried out after the 9th in a fight he was slightly ahead.
    May was an ATG.

Compubox has him landing jabs at around 2-3 per round, which is actually not that bad versus Mayweather.

But it's less than Maidana, for example. And he's not getting a mention in this thread.

Yeah, I don't either, it's useless for determining what happened - but is ok in a broader sense. And unless you're actually willing to count the punches for yourself, it's the best you're going to get.

I did actually do that (Count the punches) for Oscar-Floyd because it was so disturbing what happened in that fight. Oscar just stopped throwing the jab, Larry even asked him about it after the fight and got that weird "it wasn't the night of the jab" remark, I really thought he had injured himself.

In the end, I think he just gassed a bit and that fatigue just prevented him snatching those openings. But despite a couple of mentions since, it's never been answered to my satisfaction by anyone involved, so that's just a best guess.

Ach, I could find it if I needed it but the main headline was it was basically the same as the compubox count

This is almost impossible without separating or going by
specific divisions . The history of boxing has had literally
1000's of fighters that had excellent jabs from the beginning
of the Queensberry rules era in boxing.

Some of the names I noticed are missed from
    previous post are A.Arguello , D.Lopez, J.Chandler
    E.Pedroza, R.Leonard and W.Benitez (Their fight was a
masters class of how to jab) W.Pep, S.Saddler, just to
name a few that are not mentioned.

But I will say Hearns jab carried him to multiple
world tittles in multiple weight classes, it enabled
him to prolong his amazing career well past his
    prime and best fighting weight.

I have seen many great jabs but Holmes probably has the best.
