Golovkin is a one trick poney. He has good power, and a come forward relentless attack. We noticed way back when he was fighting that bum Stevens, that he didn't seem comfortable when Stevens came forward. We saw that he was fairly one dimensional, and respectful against Jacobs, the first solid, semi talented middleweight that he fought. We then saw that he had no ring IQ when he faced Canelo. He absolutely feasted on cans, bums, journeyman, 154 pounders etc, while HBO hyped him into one of the greatest middleweights of all time. The reality is that, Golovkin would be a top contender, and nothing more in Hopkins era. In the early 90s, Golovkin might not have cracked the top 10.

Golovkin is a one trick pony, that trick is winning, non-stop and without exception. One of the all time great MWs.

As to whether he is prime, he's 36 years old. Use your own common sense.

    That "bum" Stevens????

Granted Stevens isn't elite but at least GGG did what elite fighters are supposed to do against c level opposition and that is totally dominate and get a stoppage......no hugging, no wrestling, no fouling.....

Now compare that with Hopkins performance against Sercado and get back to me son.

Who in the Hopkins era beats him????

Hopkins ruled an equally shitty era but had to be content with going to decisions against sub par opposition and getting hurt, dropped off journeymen....

seeing as you arrived on this forum on friday, it appears you come as package. I wonder if the person creating you was dumb enough to like your post as well.

try not to make it too obvious with your next alt.

Whoever u r, this is a 3G thread, and we are arguing that he is post prime, not a thread for you to bring up wlad or calzaghe, if you'll refrain from doing that, would be good, thank yo

Jones Jr, Hopkins and Trinidad. Jones, and Trinidad would have wrecked Golovkin, if Canelo is keeping him honest like he did in two fights.

Hopkins was never viewed as a huge puncher. So of course he was going to win fights differently. Trinidad wrecked Joppy, while Hopkins won an easy, but ugly decision. Hopkins schooled Trinidad though. He would have beat the **** out of Golovkin. And no, Hopkins era wasn't just as weak. Only an unknowledgeable fool would even claim that guys like Wade, Stevens, Rubio, Monroe, Geale etc, were better fighters than Johnson, Jackson, Eastman, Echols, etc.

They was on level terms yes.

Johnson was 32-0 when he faced Hopkins, he had only faced 8 fighters with winning records and his best win at the time was Sam Garr....who you ask?

Echols was a good fighter but nothing special, already lost twice, been stopped in 1 round and again feasted on poor opposition.

Eastman never beat a true top 10 fighter and lost every time he stepped up.

JDJ was a quality but very flawed fighter and a natural 154 guy and was coming off a loss to a guy who was 9-6 before the Hopkins fight.

Now yes you can do what I've done with any fighter but it just goes to show how tame Hopkins era was, but it gets hyped because it was full of Americans.

As for Trinidad, sorry kid he isn't beating any version of Golovkin, infact the version of Canelo that GGG fought wrecks Trinidad.

Tapia, Ouma, Simon, Fuchigami, Proksa, Rosado, Ishida, Macklin, Stevens, Adama, Geale, Rubio, Murray, Monroe, Lemieux, Wade, Brook, Jacobs, Martirosyan. Sorry dude, for someone with 40 fights, and the standout win being a controversial decision against Jacobs, that many thought Golovkin lost. That resume is trash.

The group of Mercado, Frank, Lipsey, James, Jackson, Johnson, Council, Brown, Allen, Echols, Vanderpool, Holmes, Trinidad, Daniels, Joppy, De La Hoya, and Eastman are clearly a better group of opponents.
