Can we say "Holyfield is finally retired"?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by MonsterX, Sep 30, 2008.

  1. Yeah Holyfield was at the Johnson Wills fight back in 2007. KJ asked if Evander would pose with him (and Damien Wills)after the fight for a pic to be donated to Children Healthcare of Atlanta and Holyfield told KJ and Star Boxing that he wouldn't pose with two losers. KJ told him to step in the ring after the Sultan fight. The two have been jawwing back and forth.

Really? I can't picture Holyfield saying something like that. He seems so respectful.

  3. I should hope so, at 46, no commission wort a **** is going to license him:patsch and how could a guy that has made 100 million be broke? it dosen't make sense, Holy unlike Tyson has a reputation of being frugal with his money, he should become a trainer, or a broadcaster..

I hope he retires, because he cannot beat any top level heavyweights anymore. He is well past his prime and needs to find something else to do with his time, otherwise he may sustain brain trauma.

I think he can. Maybe not any of the champs (he could possibly stand a chance with Samuel Peter), but I think that there are still quite a few guys out there that he could whup with the state of todays hw division. He is still a good fighter.

He could not even beat Fres Oquendo (Okay he got the decision but he knew it was a gift), he was outclassed by Ibragimov. He is okay fighting the Vinny Maddalone's and maybe a step up from that. He has the warriors heart and tenacity but he just a tad too slow now. He would not stand a chance against Sam Peter in my view.

Yes, thats right. But Holyfield mission is to be the undisputed HW champion of the world and i am sure that he is not able to reach this goal any more. So it would be better for him to retire.

Holyfield should quit, it's too harsh to ay but he will become a painfull joke and that is something he didn't deserve.

He financed his own comeback paying his opponents more than they were worth. No one will take a risk of fighting someone his age and looking bad or even losing. Or they gain nothing from beating him. His financial trouble is pure BS. One of his half dozen or so homes is being foreclosed on. He has plenty of cash.
