Besides beating Margo who has he fought? A old Sharmba who was not even in his natural weight class and probably one of the smallest of all Welters.

Lets stop with Cotto has to fight Paul Williams before PBF.

Yeah, Williams doesn't deserve a shot at PBF yet. He needs several more big fights before he is considered the next great fighter to challenge PBF. Cotto has earned a shot, so hopefully that happens sometime soon. I wouldn't mind PBF fighting the winner of Williams/Cotto though, and if that happened I'd pick Cotto to beat Williams.

Cotto and Williams are the best welterweights right now and both champions. But Cotto deserves a shot at PBF more.

I think Williams makes the most sense, as far as Floyd showing his ability to fight, an at least sometimes rangy, tall fighter. Corrales was tall, but he fought to his opponents size and didn't take advantage of his height, or at least did so seldomly. Certainly not against Floyd.

If Floyd takes on Cotto, he takes on a superior pressure fighter.. We already know he can beat pressure fighters. Question is, can he beat fighters who fight tall. The type with jabs, crosses etc from range.. Williams doesn't fight tall all the time, he just sort of throws and throws from whatever range and has an extreme, extreme workrate..

I think the Williams fight does more for his legacy, at least in the sense of types of fighters he took on. I'm more interested in seeing him fight Williams, not for his record, who he's beaten, but for the type of fighter he is.
