It's a win that keeps getting better by the year, without question. Keep in mind, AFTER Floyd Mayweather defeated them, BOTH Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez became World Middleweight champs. Both were presented with RING Middleweight Title belts - Cotto after he beat Sergio Martinez and Canelo after he beat Cotto. Any time you bring that up, you get a lot of "but what about" and "but he didn't fight" and "but the WBC stripped" and "but Golokvin" ... Cotto and Canelo both became Ring Middleweight champs after Floyd beat them, no "buts" about it. And Floyd was the RING Welterweight champ when he beat Canelo to win the RING Super Welterweight/Junior Middleweight belt. They were all impressive accomplishments.
To me it just highlights the regression in top level boxing compared to 30-40 years ago. I still favor several guys over Floyd above 147 lbs - Hearns, Leonard, Benitez.
So it's more of a case of being anti some of his more rabid fans than the fighter, which I understand. And yes, there comes a point where pure ability isn't enough anymore.
I'm not exactly a Floyd fan either but I recognise that he's one of the best fighters of his era. Some would argue #1 of his era, and there's a case for that.
Floyd is a top 20 guy for me, closer to #10 than #20, in an ATG list. And top 10 when talking about skill and ability.
Ped cheat and huge cherry picker very good fighter but the way he's gone about his career and nature of his 'best' wins stop me from seeing him as an all time great. It's a shame because he was very talented, just too many asterisk's next to his achievements.
