Can we talk about Smith's rabbit punch on a downed Groves?

Firstly, I'd like to say I don't think this punch changed the outcome of the fight and think Smith would of got to Groves again and got him out of there even if the Gingerbread man did manage to beat the count on that occasion - which I don't think he would.

However, I surely can't be the only one to think Smith's very deliberate rabbit punch on a clearly downed opponent was totally unacceptable? Little seems to have been made of it in light of his win but Callum really needs to rethink where the line is as that's a DQable offence IMHO.

The Golovkin shot on DL wasn't acceptable IMO but at least he was facing him which was more than Groves was when he got clocked in the back of his head. Watch the Smith stoppage again, it's very late and obviously deliberate.

I don't remember the Pac one - which fight are you talking about? I'll look it up.

 

Try and use that defence for breaking a law in a court and see how far it gets you.

It was unacceptable and against the rules. He could of been DQ'd.

Yeah it's a pretty late shot but not as bad as the other examples. Still wrong though.

 

It's more of a question of it being highlighted so it'd not repeated and whilst I agree it was prob done in over exuberance it was still out of line and nowhere near a frequent occurrence. It actually looks worse on each viewing.
