    Anyway, I don't want to see Hopkins-Toney now. I LOVE watching old James Toney fights, but both he and Hopkins are so past it, especially Toney, it would just be too sad to watch.

    I don't think the fight was ever practical. Toney was fighting Jirov and Holyfield in 2003, while Hopkins was still 160 and would remain at middleweight another few years.

    Good post.

    According to the excerpts that I've read from Jim Thomas' book, (Evander's attorney) Don King and Murad Muhammad wanted a lot of money for themselves and not just for Roy, plus King refused to pay Evander money that was owed to him from a previous fight. Evander was really pi$$ed so he ended up fighting Toney even though the guarantee was for less money.
